Characters in PK mode

So I never put any of my characters into PK mode, yet sometimes I log my alts to do checkins and the name is white. Kinda curious if its just a glitch or do GMs PK with our toons during maint? XD

    Options
    If you log out while your toon's name is pink from hitting an npc in certain instances with an aoe you get switched to pk mode but with no 10 hour requirement to turn back to blue. Some of the instances this can happen in are Warsong, FS, UCH, veno instance, Heavenfall Temple, and UP.
