New Game Engine, just rumours?

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd post a thread to talk about the video that was released from a convention where Perfect World seemed to preview footage of a new game engine, thought to be targeted at PWI.

We seem to have a new GM who is more active on the forums, so hopefully we can get some sort of confirmation. But I suppose I'm wondering what you guys think about the video and whether you think it would bring back players to the game. I quit PWI a while ago and I've been looking into it again lately, but not much seems to have changed.

1. Is this video preview for a new game engine that will update PWI's graphics?
2. Or is it for an entirely new game, Perfect World 3 for example?
3. If it's a separate game, I wonder if they'll allow people to port characters over. Considering how much this game encourages putting real money into the game, and into the thousands of dollars, it wouldn't go down well for people to be told they can't take it with them.
4. Suppose one of the biggest questions is when we could hope to see such a big update

What it appears to be is a tech demo on the surface. Although I believe someone has translated alot of the text on it already?

Anything regarding engine upgrades is under the strictest NDA's for me unfortunately, so I can't confirm or deny anything. Doesn't help the rumors much of course.

The Video is 95% a demo. Most of us have agreed.

I'd be happy if they just fix all the problems they keep having with the servers. But that does look nice and you are very right I would want to port my toons, and I have a number of them that are 100+rb2 one of which is 105x3 RB2 and full R9rrr. I spent a ton of time on her so would love to bring her over if they are making a new PWI.
