Ok. This happened last night. While I was doing WQ I decided to browse the forums to see what was the interesting topics of the evening. I go to the forums and click the General Discussion tab through the arc client then oddly a window opened showing an advertisement for some game I had no interest in. So I refresh it thinking it was just being weird and hit the discussion tab again and heres where the trouble started. It opened yet another window saying the page will open to something malicious and my AVG starts going off saying the "virus" has been dealt with yet more windows open repeating same thing. I do a scan. Remove the threats. Everything is fine until I access the game it starts again. So this time after finding no threat I uninstall, clean up and decide to reinstall. It got maybe 10% then it changes saying chromes video player needs updating which was odd cause it happened through the client then more windows start opening again saying Virus found and removed so I stopped.

This is the first time this has ever happened. Id hate to think game ive played for years w.o incident might force me to quit due to this unfortunate event. i just got this used laptop maybe three weeks ago and pwi downloaded just fine then so im stuck. Any information is appreciated

False positives are very common with programs like Arc, and with game clients. You should always exclude these folders from your antivirus software.
SylenThunder has been kind enough to provide detailed instructions on how to do this in one of his sticky threads here. I personally put all of my game installs into one folder, and exclude just that folder for the sake of simplicity.

Oh! Ok I just wasn't sure if this was a new issue or a very old one. I will look into this more knowing this. Ty! :) I will do this as well to make it easier. Was nervous as heck. Hope it works!

Nevermind. It started up again. I had to reboot laptop for an update then I return, arc updates and while im waiting for it to boot up the Windows start opening along with avg coming up, along with ad-block. This is annoying me. It runs smoothly on the other laptop. My husband says its likely due to having a weak firewall on the small laptop compared to his gaming one. I will try to once more update folders or w.e to get this fixed x.x hate being the small % getting affected by this stubborn false positive warning.

I highly recommend if your worried about it, I'm sure there is an option to do this on your router. Set the firewall on it and also the firewall on your computer itself.
