Contracting is flawed

Can PWE please change contracting so you can only put a contract/s up if you have the resources to make the item/s. So annoying entering somebody's homestead only to find they don't have the resources to craft something. I just spent like 1/2 hour looking for cheap stuff to buy only to find every single player (seriously) did not have the materials to build the item/s. Also lock the contractors ability to build or go below the needed materials to make the items they have on contract.

You're misunderstanding how contracting works. It uses YOUR resources, not the contractors.Celestris - Twilight Temple0

You use their energy, but you use your own materials. You couldn't craft anything the contractors offered because it was you who were missing them.0

I think putting up contract requires *Your* energy. You can select item you have recipes for but its limited to the amount of energy you have. If you are looking for items to be contracted by someone else you need to have the mats saved for the item to be made. Plus coins being asked. (If I'm wrong feel free to correct me)0 -
You use YOUR resources, and THEIR energy. They get XP as if they made it, and coins.0

That's right. It is you who dont have the required resources coz its using your resources to craft.
The reason it is flawed is when someone raised a contract but his/her settings does not allow other toon to enter their homestead. You will see his/her contract but you will not be able to enter his/her homestead.0 -
This is probably because they are contracting stuff between alt's/mains/friends, and don't want someone else running in and grabbing it.foxmike said:That's right. It is you who dont have the required resources coz its using your resources to craft.

I'm not sure who you hire or where you live that they work like that, but when you want someone to fix something in your house, the general way with that is that THEY bring the materials, but you pay for their work and materials they need (which generally is integrated in the pay for their work). The only fitting image for this forum.0 -
Guys you sell the recipe you have and the energy. If the person doesnt have resources for craft the item then he/se can craft it.0

The OP just made a fool of himself on a public international open forum hahaha hahahaha0

I tested out contracting a bit last night and agree its confusing as hell the way it is done. You're a skilled furniture maker and offer to make a table for someone for 100k... but the buyer comes to your workshop and THEY craft it?
So yeah, you can't think of it that way. Think of it more that when you get the blueprints for some advanced design, you put the blueprints into your workshop. It then isn't *you* that knows how to make it, its your workshop. You then offer to lease out your workshop to another craftsman for a fee, but its BYOM (bring your own materials), and they still make the item just in your workshop instead of theirs, literally all you're giving them is the workshop with a design that they don't have.
That seriously limits its usefulness. Paying a contractor (renting their workshop) doesn't enable you to build *more stuff faster* which is what you really want, it only allows you to make *different kinds of stuff* but you're still completely constrained by the rate at which your own homestead can generate materials. My main is short on mats (jadestone, deity wood, etc) but my alts have tons. I don't care whether they have some fancy blueprints that I might not have, I just want to use up their mats to donate stuff to my main, but can't.0
