G17 in the NEW Patch!!!
can anyone confirm this?

There indeed seems to be a minor patch tonight, but most likely it's nothing more than a boutique update.
At least on Kitty's PC it downloaded far too quick to contain a whole dungeon, all the weapon skins, housing system and stuff needed for G17. Unless they're using some super-compression thingie which just isn't the case. G17-patch will be at least hundreds of megabytes, most likely some gigabytes when it comes.

They also wouldn't do it without a warning since they like to create some (usually over)hype about new expansions with sneak peeks and stuff. We'll know when it comes (if it comes, though Kitty's quite certain it will).​​

Chinese entries for PWdatabase are already there, i'm curious about the addons on weapons

Because the housing system will require more hardware to support the instances. They can likely pull some from the old East coast server that's just the NW maps now, but that will only benefit East Coast.​​

I am really curious to see what happens in the future update. I don't know if PWE would be willing to support the extra servers needed for the housing system. I don't even know if that would be profitable or a loss for them.

I don't think it would be too hard for Wanmei to change things for our version if needed. Just make all the materials drop in the farming instance instead of getting the housing system involved. I'm fairly certain they'll throw stuff in the Boutique too. We would probably have to deal with a bunch of bugs though.

What's your rational on the server cost being that much of a problem for them? Generally the actual server costs (purely servers) for mmos is rather low and it's more of a support and development/licensing thing. That's one of the reasons quite a few games (including mmos) have servers hosted by random individuals. Hell although not the hardware a company would run even a very beefy desktop can support a quite decently sized mmo server normally of at least 500 concurrent players (depends quite a bit on the game some that number is in the thousands). I would also point out the game almost surely has a much, much lower average revenue per user in china and it doesn't really follow that it would be viable there but not here.

You may point at the mergers but although it may not have been good in hindsight I actually think they were (mostly) well intentioned or at least not done primarily to reduce costs. Well that and the fact merging servers saves you relatively little money compared to removing hardware and doubling up what's left.

The mats to create them are farmed from quests/instances in the housing system. Need one for the other.

Also, since we obviously didn't get it with the patch, I'm going to shut this thread down. Please continue any discussion on the subject of G17/housing in it's thread here.​​
