Aurogon's Fang & EXP belt

So basically I'm looking to get the timed +8% EXP belt by doing that quest. I have some fangs from long ago, probably before they even added the belt to the quest. I cannot trade them inside the instance, so I guess it's only working when someone is running the quest for cape.
Now the question is, does the person with matchless wings need to trade all the tokens for snake cloth in order for the squad to get the belt? Or is it enough just to run the instance with someone with matchless wings.
I kind of think that you really need to to trade the tokens and pay up, but I just want it confirmed. It would be nice if there was any kind of cheap workaround.

You need to trade in the tokens, found that out on my run for the cape, unless they changed it since then.
