How is the game doing these days?
I've been recently looking for new mmos to play but none of them bring me the satisfaction and sense of addiction I felt while playing pwi, so I thought that I might give this game another try. I wanted to know if it is still very much pay2win and the hyperlvling took over the game or has the f2play population grown (somehow) and a guy like me with no money could get back into this game?
Also, how is the game's population in general? when I stopped playing even popular pvp zones and all chat were pretty dead, which seemes amusing to someone who played during the age where there was a pvp war at archosaur's exit and people didnt stop talking in all chat.

My response: Not quite alive but not quite dead either.
Could a person with no money get back in the game?
Well that depends on what your goals are and how fast you wanna reach those goals.
Reaching end game gear atm still takes alot of time. Some people would say that it takes even more time than it used too.0 -
Keep looking for other games honestly and when u find one send me the name in my inbox0

Sounds like you played on a dead server before, i never faced that issue with sanctuary, now twilight temple. Things are slightly harder if you are f2p player, but you can still mint money. If you had trouble before getting coins for yourself, chances are you will still have problems now. The game is still just as addictive and fun for me on the play side.0

The game is fine if you are PvE w occasional NW. If you expect PvP/TW chances are you will always be the condiment ketchup which is normal for most MMOs. There will always be those w more time (subscription game) or money (F2P)

Not exactly. Subscription based MMOs, everyone has access to the same gear throughout the game, even endgame gear for a small monthly fee. It just takes time to get it. Those that have more time to play will get endgame gear faster. In a F2P game like this one, if you want endgame gear (not just r9rr, but the +12, JoSD, elite star chart, S card set) it will probably wind up costing you a lot of money.

PWI is still enjoyable, but it highly depends on what you are looking for and what goals you have. PWI still gets content updates and expansions. The (merged) servers are pretty active. Plenty of people to play and have fun with.
If you are interested in PvP, you can still find enjoyment in it even as a casual player. You don't need endgame gear. I used to go to Nation Wars on Morai (before the server merges) with a character that is pretty much a one-shot, but I enjoyed my time (and got a pretty good amount of Supply Tokens, too) because I didn't try to do what I obviously couldn't.
However, if you want to be part of "endgame" PvP and top tier factions you'll need either a lot of money or a lot of time to farm/merchant. Even then, you have a lot of catching up to do with the sheer amount of dailies that are required to stay competitive.
On the other hand, if you're just interested in PvE or some casual fun, you will find a lot of things to do. You don't need top gear or anything of that sort, as long as your gear is good enough to let you survive. Finding a good faction is also pretty important. There are factions out there that accept all levels and love helping each other out.
Side note, FCC leveling is not a thing anymore, hypers are disabled in there. (In case you left before the change happened.)
Ultimately, it's up to you and what you want to do in game.

I see now, thank you for clarifying that 0 -
Being non factor one-shot PvE DD is not fun.catgirldesu said:

You have a lot things to do just if you have "gear good enough to let you survive".
If you have not it, you have one thing to do only - work to get "gear good enough to let you survive", what is not fun in the long run (first few days - it is easy, next few weeks - little boring, next few months - ???) .
To get good gear you need money or/and time to craft it.0 -

If people feel they need high gear to do various things in-game they are either trying to solo most of the content (some of which is supposed to be done in squads) or they... are not very good at playing the game.
I am not out of touch with the game. I leveled a couple of characters on other servers and a Duskblade when the new race was released. I also have a couple of other crappy geared alts. Endgame instances like FSP (Deicide) will generally require a certain level of gear, that much is true. Even then, I can still take my TT90/Morai gear Psychic through FSP, and I mean actively play it, not just leave it in a corner while my main does the job. I just need to be careful with it.
There's also a matter of how long one has been playing the game. A returning player will typically have some coin and some kind of gear, unless they gave everything away or deleted their characters when they left. A person who has been playing consistently for years, even as just a casual player, will probably have a set of Nirvana gear by now, plus some A cards and dailies done.
New players are another story, but we rarely get those in PWI.
As I said, whether one will enjoy PWI or not, depends on what one seeks to do in the game.

Most people fail to understand that specific point. PWI is not about soloing stuff, sure it is fun to solo stuff, but if you duo the same instance, you find it is very quick. Take 5~6 decent people, it is way faster.
Desdi, remember when lunar was a bh, people still got it done when they did not have OP gear. These days people have the attitude, let a higher level/better geared person do all the work.0 -
@jabq I think those higher level/better geared people are somewhat to blame. At low levels, it's hard to build balanced squads for dungeons - squads that require a tank, healer, dd's and actually have a chance of dying if a role isn't done well. I've tried building squads for bhs on my alt, and after 10 teles, I'll take the high level who offered since no one else was responding. I've left squad before though when the high level says not to hit anything. But others don't. They learn to watch strong people play and stay out of the way. I love helping low levels on my cleric, and I make sure to tell them that their contributions are welcome.102/101/102 cleric0

game has been like this, since oracle/delphi my servers ... ppl running fb for the rep=)
nowadays, belive me or not, the avergae ppl play better than in vanilla days .. when all u had to do was grind grind grind and do the occasional quest that awards some grinding ... nothing really learned here ... in comparism to todays pwi and a multitude of pve instances and events , that do require a normally geared person to actually use some brain (from time to time)
from time to time, im lvling my storm alt ,,, so far, i didnt have problems finding bh squads - and id say off my head : 50% of the time, theres no high lvl or rb person in it to help out.

@catgirldesu i love you0

@mulier Consider yourself lucky. I have successfully made bh squads on the alt I'm currently playing, but most of the time it seems a high level helps or is running it for their alt. I forced a lowbie squad to do it right in 59 once (my level 70ish veno tanking with a 60ish mystic). That was fun ^_^ I hope to find more squads like that102/101/102 cleric0
