Magical Penetration increase metal attack damage for archers?

I have 2 star charts, one with 2x phys penetration that I use when dealing with casters, and another star chart with 2x magic penetration used for barbs and other HA classes. I was wondering if magic penetration actually increases damage done by archers metal attacks even though it is based on our physical dex stats.

The penetration stats allow you to partially ignore the defenses of the targets. So yes, magic penetration does help with your metal (and wood DOT) skills.
