lie STO and similar.
can someone write a comprehensive explaination of what they consist of?
quests, stuffs, pvp, rewards, are fun? , do they add true content? , and so on.
please go heavy on details if you have time and specify the game you are referring to.
thanks
The old Heroes of Three Kingdoms had a similiar feature. Everyone would have daily quests (some which required parties due to toughness) to gain resources to help upgrade the Strongholds. That was a PvP type game which other Guilds would invade for the resources.
thanks for the link but i never played sto or other cryptic game so all i got from it is that there are things that can be upgraded allowing structures and facilities unlocks. Also some kind of armament.
i would be nice if someone that played both games can traslate in neverwinter things what they did in sto.
thanks again tho
Dam. that's like asking us to write a book. Have you seen the FW guide? xD My original post is just a summary of what's going on there, roughly translated to things that people can understand. What exactly are you looking for? I don't mind going into detail, but I'm not exactly up for writing a book.
ofc i m just curious, people keep saying it will be like STO... and i keep thinking "how is sto??" xD
i guess we will have the first preview patch this week if there are going to release details from now on
Just read the blog and you'll get an idea:
Stronghold will have a zone.
You gather special resources and donate them to the guild coffer. (aka daily/hourly quests and/or black ice style mining)
Guild officers use those to build things and give boons to guildies. (aka guild campaign)
There will be some pvp element. probably another capture the flag variant just in a stronghold zone.
Judging that this will work like STO's starbases, this is what I generally predict.
The guild leader will have to decide if a guild stronghold is worth it. And of course once they decide it will be up to the guild as a whole to start donating to the projects. Donations to the project typically vary based on said project, but here is my speculation of the basics;
1. Astral Diamonds will most liekly be required to build many projects.
2. Crafting resources or at least reagents in crafting that you can buy at the vendor, will be required to fill certain orders.
3. There will be a new guild specific resource you earn by doing invasion events which will probably operate similarly to skirmishes. If not earned in regular skirmishes now.
4. Some projects may require the donation of actual personal crafting NPCs. In STO this is duty officers that you would use.
5. Depending on special events, special decorations could be required as rewards for to add flair. STO has certain seasonal things and limited things like embassy additions that crop up from time to time to add flair.
Of course that's just the basics.
Now the things in STO you get as a reward for doing these things would be special vendors that sell unique gear or special starships of course. In Neverwinter I would probably assume something like the Main Hall, Stables, township, and mage tower. But that's a guesstimate.
In order for the stronghold to level up all things must be equally leveled up. Thus in order to advance to a stronghold level 2, you would need to have all the auxiliaries at level 2 first then you can level up the stronghold. And all of this will take time. The smaller your guild the more time it will take.
That being said I can see guild strongholds being more useful in Neverwinter because fleet starbases required using your transwarp cooldown and going to the fleet starbase felt out of the way. Neverwinter stronghold can be placed in a physical location on the map for the guild and probably wouldn't require them to leave the instance.
Will there be (or is there something in those other games resembling) any interaction with professions?
Like: A Stronghold Resources crafting profession, boosts to ressource gathering in professions, unlocks of additional tasks in existing professions, the "training camp" to upgrade R3 Profession workers to the coloured ranks,... ...you get the picture.

Doubtful. Because when you donate your crafting NPCs to construction they are lost. These are all towards unlocking additional things you can use, such as improved gear, potions, auction house, NPC stores, and the like.

I think it's too early to really try to explain specifics. I've said many times I think the system will be fundamentally similar to STO, but I think there will likely be many very important differences that will make the NW version stand above the STO version. It seems to me that a lot of the things that were pioneered in STO ended up turning out like they always wanted them too in the NW version (consider the Gateway for example... no mail, no market access, inventory management, nothing really at all but your character sheet in the STO version but NW had that out of the box).
Still, I think we'll have to wait until they release more information to understand any of the specifics because while STO's version might give us a little bit of a hint, that's all it will be so we shouldn't spend TOO much time spinning our wheels on what STO has since from the two releases I've seen so far around Stongholds, the NW version will blow STO's implementation away.
