Some suggestions to make PVP a bigger part of the game

I'm a longtime PVE player who recently came to PVP as a way t level up from 60 to 70. I love what you're doing with the NCL and event rewards, and I think it makes PVP more fun when you have such a large pool of players participating. Here are some suggestions:
  1. Continue to run events that give players a chance to earn good loot for participating in PVP. Anything that increases the pool of players who participate in PVP makes PVP more fun.
  2. Let players earn combat league tokens from Gauntlgrym and Black Ice Domination (see below). I know this stretches the player pool, so maybe the earnings should be slimmer than in Domination...five tokens for a win, or something like that.
  3. Revive Black Ice Domination, either by running it on a schedule (on the hour or half hour, like Tiamat) or by adding an event that incentives people to play BID (like we have for Dom and GG). Right now there are a lot of new PVPers who are earning boons in Dom and GG, but when we go to Icewind Dale to work on the BID achievements we can't get a match. It might even be cool to make BID a queue-able game mode (like Dom and GG) where the rules of open-world PVP apply (i.e., companions) and the rewards are themetically appropriate (black ice, scrimshaw trophies, etc.).
  4. Run way more double-Glory events, maybe even every weekend. Again, increasing the player pool makes PVP more fun.

Because NCL and the combat league token rewards have increased the player pool so much, I'm finally feeling like PVP is a good endgame option. Anything you can do to strengthen this aspect of the game will be good for engaging players and getting them to spend more money. As a longtime PVE player, I have to think that if I can be turned into a PVP addict then this is a big opportunity to grow the game.

    Here's two others:

    1. Punish the exploiters and kick them out of the game entirely. Make it known far and wide that cheating in PVP or elsewhere won't be tolerated.
    2. Separate queues. As a casual PVE player doing PVP only for dailies and now only for the event, I should never ever ever run into any player from any of the 'elite' PVP guilds. Let them fight each other for a change.

Suggestions have been made to create a separate pre-made queue... facing single PvP players randomly will not make things worse... it may actully help everyone.

Don't get your hopes up just yet. The only reason the average PvEer would consider doing PvP right now is because they are certain they can get their hands on some T2 gear. Sub-optimal T2 gear for PvE, but better than nothing. At least it has most of the HP required not to get 1shotted in PvE. It's not so much that the event attracts more players, it's more that most people are unable to get their hands on regular T2 gear since mod6. Without that, and the guaranteed R3 mount rewards people still wouldn't PvP. Once this event is over, or they have their gear, you'll never see 90% of them ever again. And that's a promise.

Why? Because PvP simply isn't any fun. There's no joy to be had against wallet warriors, exploiters and the like. No PvEer is going to spend 10k on a game just to be able to compete. In another thread I saw even one of the wallet warriors complaining he had little choice but to drop money. Without it, there would be no "fun". And as long as Cryptic fails to understand that and seriously modifies the queue system to the point people cannot roflstomp other people, the PvP community will almost exclusively exist of wallet warriors. No PvEer will touch it, even with 50ft tweezers.

"naked" PvP could -and perhaps should- be considered. Failing that, allow these wallet warriors to fight against themselves at will (hopefully something like that is coming with the strongholds mod) so that the regular queue can be used by the casual PvPer who doesn't have the 10k required to keep up with the elites. In all the games I've been an avid PvPer regardless of my class and love for good PvE. And I would have been in this game as well (I've PvPed for a while, but couldn't stand the toxicity and bug abuse long enough to consider spending money on it) if it weren't for all that. And I'm reasonably sure that most PvEers have similar feelings.

Not all true. I have tons of fun. I have even been told that I am very good at PvP... by opponents and I am no where near being a "Wallet Warrior". There are a bunch of ways to PvP... it takes a while to learn where you fit in.

BTW... before M6... I was purely PvE. I only started to PvP for t2 gear. So don't judge that which you know little about.

Naked PvP will be incredibly fun...

BTW... I do not allow how others choose to play ruin my in-game experience. I may not like what they do... but they will not dampen my enjoyment

Yet you confirm what I said: Most PvPers are in it for the gear. I meant no disrespect to anyone. You're free to choose to PvP for whatever reason you like. That's not my concern. But would you be PvPing if you didn't have a reasonable shot at T2 gear?

As a guild we figured out that the best and easiest T2 gear to get... would be starting at the Trade of Blades. Would I have been motivated to go there before M6? I was motivated but the only option was Domination at the time. The introduction of the changed GG made things more enjoyable for a lot of non-PvPers. Had I been faced with Dom and ONLY Dom... I do not know what I would have done.

+1 to OP's suggestion, let's keep it on topic, this is not a who has the best guild nor about premades, it's about how to improve pvp experience
I am the monk, martial skill transcends the battlefield
It is my my life style, my doctrine and my state of mind,
You fight well, but without focus and discipline, you will fall.
