They should have buffed up the rewards in large heroic encounters so that people will run them equally with small heroic encounters in IWD. This will encourage people to run large heroic encounters instead of bypassing them. This will also give people an incentive in playing the game to gain RP in a legitimate manner.
They should have made the drops account bound, and made it 2 peridots instead of an aquamarine for a Great Success on commons. Then doubled the rewards on rare and tripled them for epic HEs. I don't know what the actual change here is, and neither does anyone else, since there's NO INFORMATION on what this "reduction" actually is since it never went to preview, but hopefully they'll get to a good place in upcoming patches. It was unsustainable as it was and HAD to be changed, simple as that. We might not be totally happy with the change, but whatever the change is, understand that the way it was could not be left alone, it was ridiculous and totally out of whack.
Again, for me, the simplest solution would have been to make them account bound, so people trying to upgrade their own stuff, rather than farming for profit, could still do it. They still can, btw, but however the rewards are reduced, it will just take longer. The real problem with the HE death squads were botters and other profit-oriented farming. Account binding would have been a better solution than reduction in awards, since without the binding, botters will still be a problem there. But, anyway, we'll see what the new reality is in a few hours and life will go on
I think you should only qualify for an Encounter reward if you are there for the completion of it.
Really not great if you were there for most of it and get killed. Getting gloves from a Black Ice Beholder would be even harder due to how often the mobs there kill people. I get where you're coming from, but I think a more complex solution is needed. Frankly I'm not bothered by people leaving HE's. Gives me more time to run up the score board.
I don't understand why rusher's make you angry. Their logic is flawed. Getting to an HE early only helps your score if you stay for the whole thing. Otherwise, leaving at the start of the last round is the same as getting to an HE after the first round has been completed. Let them think they're getting better rewards. They aren't.
You know when I start to leave? When I've fired off everything in my arsenal, everything's on cooldown, and the last of the mobs are dying. Every little bit counts, so you may as well see the job through.

This person says HE's reward one peridot for great success.
For economic reasons: I say double the peridots instead of giving out aquas + peridots. In this way we get less RP but in a much more stable/sustainable rate.:D

I dont know for sure if this will help about botter problems:
Can't help but agree with your first two suggestions (haha). Not sure I agree with #3, since it's entirely possible that you could have been a huge contributor, but died right at the very end and therefore not present. That would really be unfair in that case. In larger HEs especially, this would be a pretty bad situation. I think #1 and #2 would take care of the problem acceptably well.
Perhaps, is the rusher issue is a bad enough problem, they could make it so you can only get rewards from one HE at a time - that is, if you are "registered" in one HE, you can't register in another one until that first HE has completed. This would, though, introduce a really tricky problem if, for example, you're trying to bypass an Epic or Major HE but get agro and are then "registered" for that one, but no one is doing it. That means, you'd have to wait out that HE's expiration timer before you could do any other HE. Not sure that's really a fair thing either... Frankly, I'm not sure rushing would be nearly as big an issue if all the drops were for personal consumption anyway... my vote would be to implement #1 and #2, and let it ride a week or three and see how it pans out and adjust from there if necessary.

Yes, great idea.
This needs to happen.

Totally agreed, the rushers HAMSTER me off.

I agree with you on this
