Same issue here. Can't use the gateway at all due to the inability to select a character

I had a similar issue with Gateway yesterday: I was in just fine and went to email a guild member that I did not recognize. I copy/pasted his @handle under the Guild tab and went to send my mail. When I tried to go back to the guild tab it gave me the same error, offering me to go to the character select screen.

Solution: I logged into the game to further check the guild member that I did not know and low and behold, he is yanking out stuff from the guild bank and changing the guild name. Needless to say he was removed and I changed the name back. After this I was able to get the Guild tab on Gateway to work just fine.

Possibilities: Maybe someone is using your account in game while you are trying to get through Gateway...?

**CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS AND DO NOT INVITE TO GUILD PEOPLE YOU DONT KNOW OR HAVE NOT PLAYED WITH**

That and... make sure your guild's permissions don't allow anyone under rank 7 to make guild-breaking changes and then never promote anyone to rank 7. EVER. if you don't trust them completely not to break your guild. In the Cloaks, Rank 1 requires a minimum 2 week waiting period before promotion without exception. Rank 1 members have absolutely no access to anything, no bank, no guild perms, nothing, for security reasons. You should never allow a rank 1 person access to your bank or allow them to invite. Trust me, I've seen all... I won't give details since that's against the rules, but allowing a person those two permissions is generally a bad idea.

That said, a member can only destroy what you allow them to destroy. Hacked accounts aside, you need to make sure your guild permissions are solid and that anyone who is allowed to promote understands under what circumstances they should use that ability and under what circumstances they should not.
