Would upgrading elven armor to elemental elven armor destroy attached armor kit?

Its such a long journey to upgrade my elven armor to elemental elven armor through black ice profession.
I am thinking of applying armor kits to my elven armor now, but would it get destroyed when I upgrade it to the elemental version later?

Also dont leave any enchantments in the armor, you'll lose them as well.

I had a similar problem once when I upgraded my computer case. I looked inside after, and none of my old components were there!

Joking aside tho, there are zero tool tips warning players that they will loose reinforcement kits (which are not cheap). I understand why this should happen, because you are creating a new armor piece, using an old one as an ingredient, not upgrading a piece.

However, I believe armor kits should be able to be removed using gold or an amount of AD similar to maybe 25% of the value of the armor kit.

And this is why I won't be using any reinforcement kits at least for the time being.
    I aim to misbehave
