CW build - final ability choice

Hi all,

I'm currently approaching 60 and looking at finalising my ability choices for my build and I'd like some advice on what people like to use. Currently I am using the following:

At will

Chilling Cloud
Frost Ray

Encounter

Shield
Sudden Storm
Steal Time
Icy Terrain (Spell Mastery)

Daily

Ice Knife
Maelstrom of Chaos

Passive

Eye of the Storm
Storm Spell

The ability I'm thinking of swapping out is Shield - the added protection is quite nice in PvE, and I can currently obliterate 90% of mobs almost instantly with Icy Terrain + Sudden Storm/Steal Time so don't need much more damage. However I'm not sure that Shield is giving me that much use and could be replaced by something else. I'm considering Conduit of Ice in the Spell Mastery slot and changing Icy Terrain over to a normal slot, but that would greatly reduce the utility of Icy Terrain I feel. Another option could be a single target spell like Chill Strike or Entangling Force, but I'm very undecided on what to tend towards!

I like Icy Rays as a single target slot. I am using Fanning the Flames, Icy Terrain, Icy Rays, and CoI (slotted). But with you being a SS, you can't use the first one. Chill Strike isn't bad either when not slotted.

You'll actually find Icy Terrain MORE useful off of mastery. I had it on RB for quite some time as well. Thought it was great, i could toss it wherever I wanted. I changed it out to put COI on RB because i heard that was pretty awesome. Whether you keep COI on RB or not, I discovered that IT worked better as a single button press and dropped at my feet. Let me give you an example

Icespire dungeon, final boss fight. My job in my group is to kite the adds while the team fights the boss. (We have no GF). I pull the most aggro so no one else could keep all the mobs attention so it falls to me by default. With IT in the RB slot in order to use it i had to RB, aim it and drop it while standing still or just double tap it and it didn't always end up where I wanted it. Now it's on "x" so i just one tap drop it at my feet and keep moving and the train of mobs walk through it.

As far as Shield goes, i never use it. Ever. Try Shard. Great for starting fights because it prones whole groups of mobs interrupting any actions they may be taking in the process. Just don't put it on RB. COI is a great standard RB.

I have been using a SS renegade since day 1 and I have High Vizier set so my encounters and Daily's are focused on that set.

    Ray of frost on LT
    Chilling cloud on RT

    COI mastery on RB
    Steal Time on B
    Icy Terrain on Y
    Icy rays on X

Daily's are Oppressive force and Ice Knife.

Passives are Chilling presence and Storm Spell.

I have no problems with running tier 2's or ELOL and I don't use shield. The only time I would consider it is for last boss on ESOT

With my setup I can tank the adds on the platform at Spellplague on my own no problems while my team mates DPS the boss. I also run tank role on Frozen heart boss as well.

For a while I did run sudden storm but I found it to be cumbersome especially if I was tanking on spell plague platform as it has a narrow cone and you have to aim it. I swapped it out for icy rays and found that to be much better as I could fire on the move and that helped me more to get my daily up to use oppressive force.
