Can anyone help me with a build that does high damage but won't get kicked ?

I hit 30 and I'm confused. I tried both paragons but the storm one seems better but maybe I am wrong? I'm just confused about what skills I should be using in and out of melee and when do I switch in and out? I don't want to intentionally mess up other players but at the same time with the cruelty I've seen on other characters i play when I see HRs in the group, I don't think I can deal with that. I love the class, I just need some guidance. I'm also not in a guild and probably won't be in one so I mostly duo but I do random queues. Any help would be appreciated. I definitely want to lean towards damage or I'm not having fun, but I don't know what things to choose. There's so many guides and the dates are off and it's confusing. Also do I keep using rain of arrows or can I drop it now for something else?

My opinion: HR is my favourite class too, but actually, HR now have the lowest damage this module 6.

The only viable way to enjoy the HR: Be a Pathfinder Trapper. Once you get Fox Shift/Cunning, if you like pvps, farm glory as many you can until level 69. PvPs in level 70 will be painful for any HR now ...

Build without Aspect of the Serpent (looks like this skill is bugged): http://nwcalc.com/index.html#/hr?b=2xga:zbukxt:9f3d:9g4qu,13k3iii:1000000:1u00000:15u5zz1&h=0&p=pfr

Build with Aspect of the Serpent: http://nwcalc.com/index.html#/hr?b=2xga:z61gyv:9f3d:9g4nd,13k3iii:1000000:1000000:15u5zzv&h=0&p=pfr

For both builds, you need to use Crushing Roots.

    Dailies:

    Disruptive Shot
    Slasher's Mark

    At-Wills:

    Hunter's Teamwork/Careful Attack
    Anything

    Encounters:

Hindering Shot/Hindering Strike (for more dps) or Bindind Arrow/Oak Skin (for more defense)
    Constrict Arrow/Steel Breeze
    Fox's Cunning/Fox Shift

And then, change instance and continue spamming encounters.

You can replace Hindering Shot and use Marauder's Escape/Marauder's Rush for fast escape or approach.

Thank you for posting that. I will definitely be trying it. I may use the aspect of the serpent. What exactly is bugged about it?

Everything. AoS has had no game effect for the last few patches.

No, it just doesn't give melee damage. It's otherwise fine, and actually a boost for Archery HRs.

No I tested it. Do you have it at 4?

My HR have AoS in rank 4. In ranged instance, the damage buffs works ok, but not in melee.

You can actually get some crazy damage out of an Archer build. My Cordon of Arrows tops out at 68k but usually crits around 52-56k (maybe rampaging madness is causing that extra large spike. not sure, really) and we get three of them. On this character, Rain of Arrows crits around 12k per tick and Thorn Ward is about 6-8k with a resistance debuff on top of that. I can tap spam Split Shot for 6-8k wide arc AoE or charge it for about 30k in a much more narrow arc. Some of that might not seem like much but it ticks very fast. If I'm running with a tank the mobs in IWD don't stand a chance. Solo IWD however is a LOT more dicey.

I'm using elemental corrupted black ice gear as well as the inscribed shirt and pants. My offhand is still currently at rare (blue), and everything else is epic. No orange or teal yet in this build. I use a perfect vorpal, and slot a greater lethal corrupt enchant in one overload slot, and a greater black dragon glyph in the other (because I believe slotting two of the same gets you a higher chance to proc a single instance of boosted crit rating, but a guaranteed 60 second cooldown, whereas slotting two different crit boost enchants allows the procs to overlap on each other).

My attack chain varies between whether I'm teamed, solo, or part of a zerg.

IF I'm solo I either drop a CoA with and RoA right on top of it, so a small mob would get sucked right into RoA and held there for a couple of seconds, which is usually the end of the fight.

    ~or~

I drop a Thorn Ward with the nearest edge of the circle touching my toe and the farthest edge touching the toe of the nearest enemy, then I drop CoA, which hits just as I'm getting surrounded, then Plant Growth, a couple of shifts back or sideways, drop another CoA and Rain of Arrows.

The main trick with a solo PvE archer is to drag the enemy through as many circles as you can while kiting away. I try to keep my kiting pattern tight so if I drop a Thorn Ward I can keep the enemy inside of it, or if I drop a rain of arrows I can keep making them chase me through it.

That strategy will also require using quick firing powers you can use between dodges, hence my using thorn ward as opposed to split the sky. Cordon's cast time is lovely. Rain of Arrows is a little slow, but considering its damage potential (it's usually my "finisher" so to speak) and still pretty quick cast time relative to its damage, it stays in my tray. I recommend Twin Blade Storm and Aspect of the Lone Wolf, for damage and deflect boosts respectively.

If you're zerging, I recommend going CoA>Thorn Ward>CoA>RoA>CoA. If I have a daily up I follow with Seismic Shot. If I'm close I'll shift in and hit Plant Growth, but as archers we should make no special effort to get close, and it would serve you better to probably save Plant Growth for mobs that get too close, so you can hit them hard and shift away while they're held. Spam your favorite At-wills in between encounters and fire your encounters as soon as they come off cooldown. You should have a charge of CoA coming up every few seconds, so keep that rolling.

As for At-wills, I always have rapid shot slotted. It's a pretty nice mop-up attack and a good alternative to Aimed shot for dragons, since the adds seem to frequently splatter some DoT effect on me, which will repeatedly interrupt your aimed shot. Also, as effective as tap-spamming Split Shot is, it can sometimes lead to unwanted aggro.

Aimed shot is amazing though if you're not getting hassled by adds. That damage is lovely. I mean who doesn't like seeing 6 figure numbers sprouting up from their enemies?

I usually run with rapid shot on left click and split shot on right click for the sake of versatility.

That's probably too much information. Anyway if you read it all I hope something in there helped.

    Cheers and good luck.

Kind of confused which way to go now. The archery build requires which feats? I do like using melee a bit here and there. I'm just trying to figure out what to use. rain of arrows, any tips on that hitting more often?

Maybe is there a link to a good archery build that shows everything a little better? Sorry my english isn't always great so lots of the acronyms are confusing. I initially wanted to go archery too but I saw people getting kicked for it, but it looked enjoyable to me.

If you don't want to get kicked, don't be an archer. It doesn't matter if your output rivals a GWF, people will kick you.

So I haven't worked up a build that's easier to read, but I'll try to sum it up.

    Race: Human

    Encounters:
    Cordon of Arrows
    Rain of Arrows
    Thorn Ward

Plant Growth (which is what Cordon of Arrows changes into when you switch to melee) is also very useful, even with an archery build.

    At-Wills:
    Rapid Shot
    Split Shot
I take out Split Shot and switch in Aimed Shot for Dragons.

    Passives:
Twin Blade Storm - At rank 4 gives an additional 16% damage when firing on more than two enemies, which you'll be doing frequently.

Aspect of the Lone Wolf - Gives you deflection chance based on the amount of enemies near you.

    As for Feats:

    Heroic:
    Toughness: 2/3
    Weapon Mastery: 3/3
    Swift Footwork: 5/5
    Battlewise: 3/3
    Endless Assault: 3/3
    Lucky Skirmisher: 3/3
    Soundrel's Training: 1/3
    Disciple of Dexterity: 3/3

    Paragon:

My paragon feats are all archery. I have 5/5 in everything but Keen Eye and Stormcaller's arrow, which I put no points into.

    Boons:

    ~Dread Ring~
    Conjurer's Gambit
    Evoker's Thirst
    Illusion Shimmer
    Shadowtouch
    Rampaging Madness

    ~Sharandar~
    Dark Fey Warder
    Fey Precision
    Elven Haste
    Elven Ferocity
    Elven Resolve

    ~Tyranny of Dragons~
    Dragon's Claws
    Dragon's Gaze
    Dragonscale Defense
    Dragon's Greed
    Dragons Thirst: 1/3
    Dragon's Revival: 1/3
    Dragon's Grip:1/3

    ~Icewind Dale~
    Weathering the Storm
    Refreshing Chill
    Rapid Thaw
    Cool Resolve
    Avalanche

Keep in mind this build does not provide a lot of survivability and no potential for PvP really, so you'll need to make up for that with your artifact choices and Armor enchant. I use a combination of the Greater Seldarine set and Perfect Barkshield. It does okay, but you need to be quick on the dodges.

I also use an Ioun Stone of Allure. try to slot that with the fancy new companion-only gear if you pick one up. You'll get major stat boosts, with no level restriction. I recommend purchasing the Ensorcelled Mulhorand main and offhand weapons. They'll level with you all the way up to 70, and they're a great alternative to anything below a legendary artifact weapon..

Hey Discorice thank you for taking the time to post all that, I know you didn't have to, so I definitely appreciate that you did! I'm going to retrain it to that build now.

Out of curiosity do you have a link to any recent gwf builds? I am searching for all these builds just as a guide, and getting older ones. It's difficult to find a fully detailed build. I recently started playing that class and scourge wizard.

Okay updated some with new info. For GWF builds check out the "Barracks" section of the forum. I could tell you some, but there are people that play the h3ll out of those builds there and I think they might provide better insight.
