A Neverwinter nice to have: MUTE Person

bkthomsonbkthomson Member Posts: 217 Arc User
So playing the long Wolf Den Daily Dungeon with a group from the queue. Game play was fine with the exception of one person who may not care that his Kinect mic is on and him and his wife (assume) are dropping left and right F-Bombs to their young children (assume). There was no talk about the game just all about what the children should and should not be doing.

Now, I do not care how these people talk to these children, that is not what i'm getting at here, but I do not want to hear it. What I would like to see is a way to MUTE a person who either rude, case in point, or just creating a distraction during game play.

Just a nice to have.

I'd also like a game chat mute feature.

Or maybe the ability to make different chat windows for different things, like guild chat or party chat.

It would be awesome, like for example when you're gettin owned in pvp and one of your group doesn't shut up just one sec expressing his/her rage cause their loosing! I don't say that's wrong but Jesus Christ a mute option would be so nice!

Or when you join a PUG dungeon and someone plays (horrible) music on their mic for the whole run... ugh.

There IS actually a mute button. It works GREAT! You just have to navigate to the group and select the person you want to mute. Then you select Vote to Kick. Then you enter the reason "obnoxious mic". Just like that, they're muted! Works 95% of the time.

I must admit, one of the only 2 times I have voted yes to kick is when someone was playing stupid music. A proper mute facility would be better though.

    ^^^ Sigh.

Or you could highlight the person with said mic, select View XBox Profile, then select the Mute function. Solved, without hurt feelings.

I think you meant to say "lessons learned" and accidentally typed "hurt feelings". ;-P

Oooppss... I totally forgot this function existed! I will remember next time. I just saw the V2K come up on screen and saw it was the annoying mic guy so pressed yes without thinking.

Yh the music too, once I was forced to remove my earphones cause it was unbearable! I have music on all the time but its not weird and still I mute my mic unless I wanna say smth. Its just boring cause it should be common sense that music that you like doesn't mean its appreciated from everybody!

Nope. See, that would constitute kicking for no good reason (i.e. VTK abuse). I, and many others, won't stoop to that level, so being able to mute in game chat would be nice.

I tried this a while back and it didn't work. It's was like game chat was independent of Xbox Live. I'll try it again though...

Weird. I guess if it still doesn't work, contact the Arc support team? I swear it's worked for me, unless I've gone crazy (real possibility :P) or those people just chose that moment to mute their mics lol.

Not exactly a speedy option.....But thats more Microsofts "seemless" transition at fault.

True. I think from a programmers standpoint (albeit a lazy one lol) that why bother putting something in the game that the platform already takes care of for you? Meh, maybe it's just an oversight.

Oh, never tried that, next time I will. I guess I was looking at something more integrated into Neverwinter but if this method works then I cannot see this functionality being added since there is a work around. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, if there is a work around I do not think it would get much attention. Then again I would rather have them work on a better Chat / Notification system than an in-game mute option.

No problem! At least it's something, right?

I hope so. I mean I never felt so uncomfortable playing a game with all this 'Parenting' going on from this person. It was like one sentence and the guy dropped two f-bombs. Again, do not care how he parents but I certainly do not need to hear it.
