Most people love them.
Rarely do people hate them.
My thinking is, we as a community, or at least a few of us, could start making an unofficial loot table, which would take a few months, depending on MOD 5 releasing and the prev. MODs.
-or-
Devs or some of the Mod team could send one our way, though how, I have no clue. I also have not a clue as to whether anyone on the Dev side has a concrete loot-table.
To the community: If anyone knows coding, we could start a free NW XBOX app, and add stuff to that. Doesn't need to look pretty, just needs to work, and be able to add verifiable data sets.

They did this with WoW... at least what I think you're describing. The community used crowd-sourcing to determine drop rates/chances for certain items even though the developers were not forthcoming with such information.

I have always seen drop tables done in a crowd sourcing style. If you guys can handle doing that it would be awesome but I am not sure how well it will work out.
I had wanted to do this but over time I got discouraged because it became apparent that trash mobs really do not have notable drops to encourage farming. I wish that they did or even had a small chance at rarer drops but the system just doesn't look like it is designed that way.
In truth I am not sure there are even different tables for monster drops other than those based on monster level.

From my experience playing NW, each area has a set amount of drop types, so not as random as it may seem. These drops seem to revolve around what enemy you killed for it to RNG you an RNG drop. Pyramid style, nice and easy.
Once I get done with finals, I'll probably open up a Google Docs for it, and see if anyone wants to join me in this Great Quest. Reise, Reise!

The fact it is not as random as it may seem is my problem. Seems like it's all the same table based on monster level more so than tables based on monster variety.
