Are we waiting for the PS4 version?

dreampagehundreampagehun Member Posts: 97 Arc User
Rumour has it that we don't get any new features and modules until the PS4 version of Neverwinter is released. This is because although the PC version leads, the two console versions have to be on par in terms of features. Maybe that's why not much has been made in the past month, because Cryptic is busy developing the PS4 version of the game. So we are basically funding the PS4 version with our purchases and we have to wait until it's released (possibly during the summer) and after that the two will be updated at the same time.

It would be great if the developers could confirm / deny this because it would help us adjust our expectations about the timing of new features and improvements.

Seems like as good an explanation as any for the utter lack of new content. If this is the case and they don't announce this as their intent they are going to alienate a lot of players. That being said I find it unlikely that this is the actual scenario just because they have released new lock boxes and CTAs as well as given Xbox players a jump on the module 4 campaign. This already makes our version significantly different from what the PS4 version will be at launch. Furthermore if they were going to limit the content being released of Xbox until the ps4 version launched I think they would understand that the lack of content until the ps4 version launched would kill the majority of their community on Xbox. The earliest release date I was able to find for ps4 version was September which would be 3 to 4ish months time from now depending on whether its early or late September. Leaving us with no major content updates for half a year would be poor business strategy, especially given how successful this version has been for them so far. That's just my 2 cents though no one knows what the hell game companies are thinking.

Ok, this has me baffled. The game has only been out on Xbox for 2 months. And you started off with more content then the PC did at launch. The best the PC folks can expect is new content released every 4 months or so, about 3 times a year. And most folks are complaining that is too fast, that the quality cant keep up. Or that the players cant keep up with constantly having to earn new gear before they could even complete the last set.

And now, just 2 months in you think content is not coming fast enough? Seriously? What kind of content schedule would you like? They have already said, even before Xbox launched, that Xbox would get less frequent updates, but it would get more in each update. So it might be some time before you see any new modules, but when you do, I expect you will get several of them.

When all the aforementioned content exists and we are waiting for translation to Xbox a more speedy release schedule would seem prudent. The aforementioned complaints are less about the new content and more about them making previous artifact items obsolete like they did with module 6, at least if you are talking about current complaints which are the only ones I am able to find, as for the less frequent more content updates that is the reverse of what they should be doing. Even if it was one campaign/module at a time speedier releases would keep their player base happier than losing large swathes of people in between updates to other games. This is even more true with ESO coming out soon. Furthermore it should be kept in mind that not only is there not new content there is zero mention from the devs as to when new content can be expected which implies that it is far off. This is of course speculation but it is speculation reinforced by previous evidence from other games. Whether this is more content than PC started out with or not it is content that I have beaten.... Repeatedly.... and with multiple characters. Regardless of the release schedule stale content is stale content.

Keep in mind people are used to the poor quality and fast release of CoD map packs and the monthly car packs for a certain racing game.

So this makes us bad people? I personally have 3 level 60s took me roughly 20 hours then another 6 hours to gear them in full tier 2 armor then about three weeks in I have fully completed the campaign and got my artifact weapon and belt which are epic all companions leveled enchantments lvl 8+ leatherworking, jewelcrafting, leadership all 20. With that being said I can understand his worry much of the xbox community is done at this point I mean seriously what's left to do? Half the community left to play witcher 3 or destiny house of wolves zen exchange went from 180 ad per zen to 160 ad per zen in a matter of days ESO is rite around the corner then black ops 3 in the fall. Am I saying these games are better? Heck no but if the community doesn't have things in game to keep them interested then they will find enjoyment elsewhere I mean my sw has been bugged for a while now same as other peoples characters yet they haven't fixed it but let zen purchases bug to where people can't toss them money and its fixed instantly And what's wrong with wanting more content to make the game more enjoyable? BTW how's that controller support coming for you PC players? Seems to menus "sled entitled Xbox players" aren't the only ones who like to complain

    Iscariot

I think most of us will agree that when Black Ops3 hits this community quality will go UP lol
Also just because some people wear a diaper and I.V drip caffeine doesn't mean the majority does. I am a person that plays way to much myself, but you cannot expect the new players to be able to run the content that fast and gear themselves.

There is a large portion of the player base that did not transfer from PC just to stroke their pixel ego!

    1. There's faaaaar to little punctuation in that paragraph.

    2. I think I've said before that the game feels too easy. There's a balance between 'hardcore' and 'accessible' and I feel this game errs too near to the 'accessible' end of the scale and needs to be a little bit more 'hardcore' with some clearer progression through gear and dungeons. Of course that will require more content, which costs money to develop, which is difficult for a F2P game, but difficult is not impossible...

    -snip-

I seem to have struck the nerve of someone. First off never said those of US that play on the xbox 1 are bad (yep console player not a pc gamer) All I said was that people seem to take the dlc release speed of CoD or Forza and assume every game has to follow that pattern. Also zen enchange has been at 160 for a few weeks now so try again? The biggest issue we are dealing with is the vote to kick option being completely abused which is causing not to want to do the dungeons at all. By the way just to further prove my point.....
https://account.xbox.com/en-US/Profile?xr=mebarnav so yep I am totally a pc gamer and not an xbox player :p

On topic: Last I saw there was only talk of porting to the PS4 yet no actually confirmation of them doing so. We are getting at least one new expansion sometime this year though

No. We'll be getting 5 updates this year alone.

There's no set date on PS4- It's thought to come out in September, if it does come out.

I can assure you, Neverwinter will receive updates, especially with ESO coming out.

Last I had looked they had only confirmed one of the expansions. Likely getting the one that contains Tiamat first....for obvious reasons

Well, when I say 5 updates, I mean 5 blocks, probably building up the expansions. We'll get the Artifact shield for sure.

Oh I know what you were meaning. Only saying that the last time I had looked they only confirmed 1 at the time so it's good to know the other 4 will come soon as well :)

Aye they announced a while back that we would receive "5 free expansions before the end of 2015". Now I sincerely doubt they mean 'expansion' the same way you might be thinking, but they did basically guarantee 5 major content drops between now and the end of the year. I'll try to find a link...

Couldn't find a link directly to Perfect World's statement on this but several news outlets covered it:

I laugh seeing this newer generation of players wanting new content faster. They have no idea how it was to play the old school mmo and farm for that one specific piece for years. More, more, more, gimme, gimme, gimme, mine, mine, mine. Fat kids in a chocolate store. Funny.

What was it... 3+ years between Vanilla WoW and the first expansion? Newer gamers, especially console players, are by nature instant-gratification-junkies. That's why these pay-to-hurry game models work so well these days.

I wonder what the stats are on people who have actually done/finished everything. How many have all their legendary gear (I don't and I play a LOT), all the drops they want from the various dragons/bosses, finished the entire campaign and collected all their boons, killed 1000 dragons/unlocked all the achievements, etc. I'm sure a bunch of people have done everything and are left with only grinding dailies or making new toons as options for stuff to do, but I'd also wager that most players aren't even close to "done" with the content we currently have.
