Never Winter is by far way better than ESO in my opinion!

wade8765wade8765 Member Posts: 86 Arc User
Got to say that I have put $60 into this game. I really felt that I needed the fastest mount for the big advantage it gives in PvP. I bought a 24 slot back pack which makes looting simpler as you can pick up everything without first having to look as to what it is. The rest I converted into AD.

The $60 I have spent on this NeverWinter game is a fair amount to give when I spent so much more on a lesser quality game called elder Scrolls online (ESO). ESO had me paying $110 (abouts) for the initial purchase of the game followed by an additional $15 every month for 6 months. SO I spent at least $200 on ESO and it may have been a little more (perhaps another $15 more). ESO is way inferior and didn't live upto the hype at all. I regret spending the money with ESO but I have no problems with the fractional amount that I have spent on NeverWinter.

Yes this game has some bugs but they are fixed quickly. What can I say, All MMO's start off by having lots of bugs. Beta testers don't stumble across every problem.

What I would like is perhaps a faster NW server or a fix to what ever causes the LAG. I do not get LAG on the PC version of this game so I don't see why this cannot be fixed for the XBox version.

It's a great game this NeverWinter!! Congrats to all the people who made it happen. Well Done!!!

Thanks

Wade

Last I checked, ESO isn't even available on Xbox One yet... so how exactly can you compare the two? Or are you incorrectly comparing the PC versions and making the statement in the Xbox One forum?

You mean like all Xbox users? Considering that the game only started for them a month ago.

Honestly they don't need the bitter, angry, PC crowd to come here and rain on their parade. If they are enjoying the game now, let them enjoy it.

Is ESO even worth getting when it comes out June 9th on Xbox One? All my console friends think "its going to be the best game ever made" while all my PC friends tell me its a bad game. I really like Neverwinter but I would like to stick to one MMO. and yes I played ESO last year for a month or 2...

Neverwinter everyone started from scratch. ESO will give you the ability to port your PC character over essentially giving you an advantage. I personally like the leveled playing field tha NW created. I probally wont pay ESO due to the PC ports and $60 price

Played ESO on pc and has to be one of the worst mmorpg I've played and I've played a lot of mmorpg on the pc. People will also still need to pay for a sub every month if they want more content since added content is gated to subscriptions.

Fail. If you want new content you can buy just whatever content you want individually. There is no more subscription - that was removed due to Micro$haft requiring that NO XBox games have subscriptions -- only THEY are allowed to charge per month for Xbox Live. Console kiddies won't stand for paying monthly for Internet, XBox Live, AND a game sub. So it went BUY to play -- initial game cost, plus pay for whatever add-ons you want. And no P2W item store either. Lots of optional fashion items, pets, and trinkets though.

I can't even imagine what MMOs you've played that you think are better - I've played nearly every single one since Meridian59 and it is pretty much the richest visually, exploratory, enemy combat AI, and in-depth stories. Even the best PvP EVEN though that has some (minor) issues they are working on fixing.

Incredibly curious as to what MMOs you consider "the best?"

Ultima online is clearly the best

Most these actiony mmos like nw, wow etc have very little to do except run 40 min dungeons

I've not been impressed at all with what I've seen from ESO, and I'm even less impressed at the idea of paying $100nzd for the game and still being charged real money from an in-game item store. My limited experience with the PC version, and the feedback from PC gamers, has left a bad taste in my mouth - especially when you add the utter lack of communication, broken promises, constant delays and changing scope of the game, it's not a pretty picture.
Having said that, we haven't seen a lot of ESO on console yet - but it'll take something significant to convince me to change games.

    LOL, wat?

the xbox made PC drop the subscription model? I thought it was the abysmal gameplay driving away the playerbase in droves.
Other games on Xbox live have had subscriptions, and ESO was going to launch with the sub model if it had met any of it's previous launch dates.

Not sure which game you're talking about, because ESO definitely has an optional $15 sub for Tamriel Unlimited on both Xbox and PC - you receive all DLC content and an allotment of Crowns (e-currency) every month it's active.

Richest enemy combat AI... no. I can't recall any boss mechanics that I hadn't seen before. The feel of combat was great minus being required to animation-cancel to obtain max DPS.

Yes, true - ESO+ is n "optional" subscription. And anmation-canceling is THE stupidest mechanic (i.e. BUG) that exists. It's like check-swinging in baseball and actually hitting a home run. Or feinting a jab and actually hitting. It's a ridiculous exploit that the l33t d3wd5 and min-max idiots just love and think is fantastic.

We are on the Neverwinter forums discussing the merit of the competition.

To be fair, I don't expect much objective discussion on the matter.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion naturally, but we need to be realistic on the expection here about what the general tone of this 'discussion' will be and not read too much in it.

I am curious though as to how many of you Xbox guys actually got to play the ESO beta recently?

Brand loyalty aside, there really is no denying the production values on ESO really are a lot higher than the current X1 Neverwinter port. But considering ESO has spent the last 2 years basically as a subscription based MMO, that hardly surprises me either.

But we do have to be at least someone realistic here and objective if this discussion is to have an real value at all beyond convincing ourselves that we made the 'right choice' to play Neverwinter.

I guess we'll see in a month or two regardless.

Comparing NW to ESO isn't much praise at all. ESO is a horrible game, and tanked miserably after the players left in mass exodus.

I stopped reading after that. The simple fact that you actually typed that, really invalidates the credibility of what you actually know is going on.

I myself will buy ESO, Skyrim was a blast. I started CoH/CoV from Alpha, now THAT was an MMO. I gladly forked over $14.99 a month X2 for 2 accounts, for like 7 years I think? I still jump on SWTOR, here and there but my xbone has me spoiled atm.

What's funny is this thread is breaking the rules, but mode don't care as it isn't "nw isn't good". Even in the title there is another mmo, in the title. But I bet if a thread came up that eso is better it would get locked.

Mods are biased just like everyone. Shame they don't uphold the rules unless NW is in danger of being targeted by someone's opinion.

As far as ESO is concerned vs NW. The console beta had PC players upset because the game and UI was better on console then PC. The graphics, everything apparently judging by the reviews of people who played both. Not only that but it will be up to date with PC in terms of content. Also its Buy to Play, as in people HAVE to pay money so I imagine servers will be more stable.

Now that being said, I enjoy NW, I will enjoy ESO. I simply enjoy MMO's and will play any I can. Who cares who thinks what is better. Fanboys will be there for both games.

Sorry but I have a hard time following? What I posted had nothing to do with being a fan boy. What you quoted was me saying the mods seem to be biased and only thread lock when NW is flamed. Dunno bout liking it or putting a ring on it. Maybe you ment to quote something else that won't make your post look like you read nothing except eso...
