Hey all I just wanted to let you know that I published a character creation guide for Scourge Warlocks. It is a beginners guide to what one is, how to create one, and how to get off on the right foot playing a Scourge Warlock. You can check it out along with other class and game guides below.

Not particularly impressive, even if targeting newer players. Seems to be a combination of obvious and misleading advice. No offense, but what is your actual experience with playing a SW?

Guides can be very helpful to new warlock players, thanks for creating and posting. Most important for creation is race and initial stat roll so I read only that section. Please explain why do you recommend stacking INT (resist ignore, recharge speed) over CON (hit points, flat bonus damage)?

For PvE you can get to the 60% resist ignored pretty easily without INT and faster recovery is nice but at major sacrafice of survival and flat damage bonus. For PvP, some INT can be useful for rotation turnaround but the resist ignored won't come into play much except for specialty ArP stacked builds. So CON is generally better.

Because "we leech life therefore we don't need too much in terms of max HP". Which is a nice generic MMORPG argument but totally non-applicable to the current case for a number of reasons:

    1. It ignores the fact that CON stacks flat bonus damage.
    2. It ignores the fact that some Temptation group buffs are function of the Warlock's max HP.
    3. It ignores the fact that SWs have a feat for cooldown reduction, multiple powers that operate on no or low-cooldowns, and that SB SWs actually have something useful to do during encouter downtime.

So even if you ignore HPs and view the choice as 7% damage (~2,800 power) and 7% increased cooldowns/7% ArP, I'm not sure what wins out.

Actually you're gunna lose 4k HP tops for not having your con maxed in comparison to a INT build, see my thread for more info, I tested it.

What is worth more to you?
5% extra damage and 4000 HP (+5CON) or
5% extra recharge speed and 5% resist ignore (+5 INT)?

If you want to get 5% damage bonus from power, you would need to stack more raw power stat than you would in recovery or ArP to get 5% more recharge or resist ignore since the power curve is more flat. So for this reason and the HP too, +5CON is the better deal.

no I see your point, however my point of view is that INT builds will only be any viable until they do something about constitution giving such low HP.

at which point everyone should be CON/CHA as everyone was before mod 6 IMO

i would definitly go con, since arp is build quick and you only need 60% in PVE
so taking all that arp from gear and from augment with these crazy compagnion equip taht gives you 2000 arp + 2000 Power + 6 slots, you will have more arp than you need when geared up
I have 53% atm, not slotting one percent arp, only crit :)
in case you stay at low gear arp is more important, thats the difference

Agree that 4k HP is not much anymore - they buffed HP pool hugely but did not buff the amount of HP that CON gives and maybe should have. I am thinking to split and put a few points into INT though because I could benefit from a little more recovery.
