Lockbox items tradeoff event?

It's been nearly 7 months. And Akro is gone.

Any chance it'll happen again? If so, it has to be better than last time. Getting an invite to PE #1 was a disaster, people squeezed in line with only 1 dev accepting trades (although bless Akro for punishing them and banishing them from the line for that day).

I honestly think it's good for the economy too, it refreshes expensive items prices for like 2 - 3 weeks, people buy more and invest more, and it's easier to afford things.

Mod is already super broken, at least give us that :)

I'd rather see bug fixes then lining the riches pockets more.

It has nothing to do with bugs. Community managers aren't bug fixers, their job is exactly to throw said events. There's a team you know, not all of them are 24/7 fixing bugs.

    Cool! when is that?

Anniversary (called Protector's Jubilee) will happen in June.

As for Community Manager Strumslinger: what some may not be aware of is that he is also Community Manager of ARC in addition to Neverwinter proper. So he may not have as much time to dedicate specifically to neverwinter as Sominator and Akromatic had.

Also, I think it's up to the CM to come up with a lot of these ideas, such as the Lockbox Exchange event and Strum is probably feeling a bit overwhelmed right now with the Mod 6 thing going on and a new game being just released in ARC (so he's also trying to get that forum rolling, too).

That's good to know, I wasn't around when the first event went through. Was it thrown by the CM prior to Akro?

Protector's Jubilee is a game-wide scheduled event. It may or may not already be appearing in the in-game calendar (I haven't though to look yet.) I need to get more keys for new toons since the last one - keys to get into the Protector's Forum above the Companion Vendor building. It's great up there - direct access to mail. vendors. portal to overland map and all that stuff - and it's right next to the bank, too. And when camping at campfire: not noise/trolls.

If he doesn't have enough time, then he should never have accepted the position. Why not just assign the name of someone else already spending 80 hours a week on some other project as the CM? Pointless assignment if they aren't actually doing their job.

Correct! I'm currently the CM for both Neverwinter and Arc though I'm primarily focused on Neverwinter for the time being. That being said, I've heard of stories of the lockbox trading event and how much chaos it brought in. Chances are, I won't be doing it again, but will probably think of something else.

It was a nice attempt to make a small scale event by Akro but the event simply didn't work due to the maps having a cap on the number of players , every time he did the lockbox event more players ended up disappointed than happy because only a very small number of people ever got a chance to get to his map , plus it wrecked the entire concept of rare mounts/companions.

it was chaotic but boy was it popular. The chaos surrounded cramming too many people in zone and only one CM to handle all of it. If you could figure a way around that, it would go much smoother

Besides the chaos and people being shut out of the zone, it was a case of "the haves" becoming "the have mores". In other words, if you didn't already have a lockbox mount, you couldn't trade for another, rarer one.

Not a huge fan of this type of event.

Here's a suggestion: Make one of the coders modify a Robe of Useless Items for you - to Strumslinger's Robe of Useful Items, dropping a random thing of blue rarity every second or three. Mount your whatever cool looking beast or contraption you wish, and ride through all PE instances for a few hours....

...free cookies for everyone (well, many).

I pretty sure it is not for everyone. We need to add more rank to the Dark Enchantment in all utility slots.

Akros issue was that he could not get a broad picture of how many players would want to participate, he had a tunnel vision of what was going on with the game community. The event where he asked for players to sell him 300 gold items was done by one player in an hour. The community is much larger then us few forumites.

I would like to see events like this:

(Although it would require some metrics to be pulled from the game)

Sharandar is seeing an increase in Redcap Population. Players must kill 50 Million Recap Powerie over the course of the weekend. If the heroes of Neverwinter can band together and accomplish this the elfves of New Sharandar will be eternaly grateful and reward them with: <<insert prize>>.

It does not matter if someone participated or not if the objective is achieve by the community everyone gets the prize. It is what a community event should be.

I enjoyed the event, got a thayan book of the dead. Pretty sure it was still the only way for an average player to get the tensor's disk as well. Shame that it won't ever happen again

This is exactly what the Star Trek Devs did for the first four weeks of the new "Iconian Recruits" thing they had: new toons had a special addition: called Iconian War Recuits and there were system-wide goals that only these specialized toons had to accomplish. if accomplished everyone in game got the reward and the rewards were pretty generic like Double XP weekend and such.

Neverwinter could do something like that to bring on more Docile RP or Double XP weekends and whatnot - which is something we all appreciate and also allows us to at least feel in-control to a degree of making it happen. Three-thumbs-up vote from me.

Every lockbox is different than the others. Every item of a particular quality is different than the items in other lockboxes of the same quality.

Lockbox trading events just destroy the different varieties of the lockboxes and items they contain... and these events rob the players who can't find the CM to exchange their items of lesser values to pay the ones who can who hoard. Epic Fail!

Man, it was a good event. Only reason it was chatoic is because game population > 1 pe instance by a LARGE margin. I only managed to squeeze in on the last day of the weekend, but I was excited and it was very fun. I do believe the event should stay, just be thrown differently, maybe a few devs in a few instances, other rules, idk.

Mass Effect 3 use to do this all the time. Kill 4 millions Banshee, kill 200k Geth in Melee, Kill 1 million Reapers with Biotics only, etc. It was fun and brought everyone in game and on the social medias closer together. Than again Bioware/EA vs Cryptic/PWE not the same league but still...

Event Salvager, producing a token of equilavent value from a lockbox, that you trade into a lockbox item at a new event npc vendor. No more hassles! Could be nicely wrapped up with an actual event connecting to that vendor.

They should make mobs drop random lock boxes instead of always the specific one. Pretty sure they would get more money this way.

They usually do this before a new one is introduce, not sure why they did not last time.

we have already suggested that. but they didnt do that cause they wanted people to try and get in a specific instance without any system wide message all times that happened or without messages on social media and trade with 1 person while waiting in line for an hour or so.
salvager + npc is the obvious solution they should have thought the same moment they thought about doing those trade events.

Well, there is a minor problem. Inventory management. Do they have something like 20 different lockbox now?

Well, as an event one can cope with _that_, methinks. And it's already there, as an event. Plus you can also buy retro lockboxes on the AH - and IIRC also from the Wondrous during the Lockbox Resurgence.
