There needs to be an added feature that lets you select a role prior to a dungeon of tank, healer or dps. People go in there obviously not knowing their role and really making these dungeons painful. I see tanks trying to dps, healers trying to dps, and dps pulling mobs way ahead of the group resulting in wipes. On top of that, nobody talks in chat or with the headset so it's just one big gaggle of no communication. With adding a simple, choose your roll before joining, you know what everybody intends to do.
The problem becomes how do you enforce it? If people can just pick any role to fill, they will simply pick the one that gets them to queue faster. You will quickly see Rogues and Rangers claiming to be tanks and healers.
As far as the headset issue, not everyone likes to hear someone screaming in their ear. And not everyone speaks the same language.

In WoW, classes are limited to roles they can actually fulfill. In this case, Rogues would only be able to queue for DPS, Clerics could queue for either DPS or healing, and so on.

You don't allow rogues and rangers to select tank or healer rolls. If there class is not designed for that, they can't select it. WoW has this system and it works fantastic.
Rogues and Rangers wouldn't even be allowed to queue as tank.
GF should be the only tank.
DC is the only healer.
Everything else is DPS.
And yeah. GF can DPS. but they really shouldnt. The buffs they should be giving to the group from tanking is way better.
And GWF may be able to tank. But they're horrible at it from all experiences. They also can't mark as well. Plus don't offer the buffs an actual GF does when things are marked.
It's an MMO. We have designated roles. If you want to tank, play GF. If you want to DPS, don't pick a healer or tanks.

Exactly, as a GF it's irritating to go into a mob expecting some heals and the cleric doing nothing in that regard. If you're a cleric and don't plan on healing, but dpsing, it'd be nice to let the tank know.

This isn't Wow, and those classes CAN do those roles. Rogues actually make excellent boss tanks. Having a rogue on the boss while everyone else is mopping up the adds, is a completely viable strategy. And Pathfinder Rangers can provide team healing with their hunters teamwork skill.
So, we return to the same problem. We can't make it something where anyone can pick any role, that wont work. We cant really limit it by what each class can do, because the classes are rather flexible and can fill multiple roles. But no one really wants a Ranger for healer and Rogue for tank, so that also wont work. So the end result is gets distilled down to your class is your role and you cant change it. And seeing as how that is what we have now, it makes the original request kinda pointless.

No they really can't play other roles. Let's be real here. In high end game content, you won't be looking for a rogue to roll as a tank or rangers for healing. Maybe leveling up that might work. Please show me the copious amounts of tank builds for rogues and healing builds for rangers. You going to be looking for a rogue tank and ranger healer for Castle Never or would take one? No this isn't WoW, but it takes a ton from WoW. In WoW in lower level dungeons you could have different classes fill in for different roles, but you certainly aren't going to have them doing those roles in end-game content which makes your last post kinda pointless.

So then whats to select? If only Guardians can be tanks, and only Clerics can be Healers. Then the roles are already defined and there is no need for further player input.
Ill say it again, because my point still seems to be missed. You started this as an option for player choice in roles. Yet, complete choice in roles in unacceptable. Choice based on secondary roles is also unacceptable. If the only acceptable choice is no choice at all, what then is the point of this request?

You obviously aren't strong on reading. Guardians can spec into tank or dps and Clerics can spec into healing or dps. They can select either for those. Yes there is a point to this post.
No it is pointless, because no one will do it. And you cant honestly enforce it. Say I wanted to be a DPS cleric, I would still queue as a healer for faster queue. There would be absolutely no advantage for me to do otherwise. Sure you could kick me, If I wasn't healing enough, but you can do that now. And If I told you I was heal spec'ed you would have no way of knowing for sure. Either I was able to do the job or not.
How, exactly, is this a situation any different from now?

Something tells me you've never really done this "high end game" content you're talking about.
My best CN clear time on my Cleric was with two HRs and two CWs. Probably the most optimal group comp for any dungeon. You don't need a tank, it just makes it easier in PUGs because nobody actually knows how to down Dracolich the fastest (Singularity on top of boss, stack and AOE adds).
Rogues can just as easily dodge boss hits as a tank can absorb them, and if they play the right way they can maintain aggro on the boss and not take damage. How is that not a tank? You don't even need to build for it, they have everything they need in their DPS specs.
Tempation Warlocks can also do great healing when played properly, the only problem is most SWs are complete trash so they don't get very far with it. I've run with a main healer SW on my Cleric and it was amazing, all I did was drop AS and Divine Glow for buffs/debuffs and swapped out other abilities to help with DPS.
The point is, it's not the class. It's the player. While some classes have certain abilities that can heal or block damage (HR/CW), that doesn't make them tanks or healers. What makes them tanks or healers is that the player controlling that character actually knows what they're doing and has the right build for what they want to do. Stop PUGing and join a guild so you don't have to keep dealing with scrubs.

see this is part of why there is a problem with all the kicking in dungeons. You and many others have it SO stuck in your head that every other class is just incapable of performing certain roles. As you mentioned, GWFs can indeed tank. You know who else can tank pretty good? DCs. Sws are also proverbial GODS at healing.
But regardless of which class does what, it all comes down to, you have potions and are fully capable of bumping up your Life Steal and Regen stats, it doesn't matter what class you are, you can keep your own self alive. Just stop being a derp and standing in all that red, despite popular opinion, standing in red doesn't give you stat buffs...

Completely disagree with this mentality.
