When dozens of players are fighting 1 dragon at a time, is this considered an exploit? Or are we fighting dragons the same way that PC players have been going about for years? I ask because of several reasons:
-The game recommends 6-10 players for a dragon
We are exceeding this number by at least 3-5x that.
-An instance has a player limit (is it 30?)
I'm almost certain that we can exceed the cap and have been already.
-There is a countdown timer for dragons
We don't need a countdown when we can simply join a party member's instance outside of our own.
By not following the guidelines, it would seem that we contribute to our own lag and we could be considered as exploiting.
But why stop?
Would it improve the overall server functionality?
If we are exploiting and PW/Cryptic are aware (obviously), why would they let it go?
I'm not trying to start a movement or anything (like anyone would listen), just being a curious fellow! Thanks.
No, it is not considered an exploit. I understand what you're asking in regards to the 6-10 players for a dragon. However, I don't think that recommendation is stated as a limit on how many people, but rather as a warning to newer players (who don't know) that they may want to bring friends with them to fight said dragon so that they dont get face-rolled lol.
As far as lag on a particular server, well yeah, things are pretty slow and muddled when there's a zillion people fighting the dragon in the same instance but that's not going to change heh. Some people are in a hurry to get that daily done since they've had to do the same stupid things for weeks in order to unlock campaign stuff. So yeah, I'm going to hit the one I can as soon as I can and get it over with so I can move on to things that I might actually enjoy. Other people might just be trying to farm rare drops from the dragon so they're going to hit every single one they can lag or no lag.

Pretty sure we're not exploiting any flaws in the system here as the instances function and have functioned the exact same way on PC since launch. Instances have a hard cap at 30, try to get your friends in via the group, join instance method after the instance in question is full and an error will notify you that it's full.
What you're seeing isn't lag in the sense of network latency. It's not caused by server stress or anything of that nature. It is FPS lag caused by our Xbone's GPUs inability to process and render all of the information it needs to. The FPS "lag" isn't on the server side, its on the client side (xbox) and the bottleneck is at the graphics card. There are indeed some server issues, dragon fight FPS lag is not one of them.

back in mod 5 and now mod 6 on pc version we had a problem with kv taking tons of damage or too many stral seals healing at once or cw icy storm mixed with one of the other two. it caused insane lag. ive had instances with no kv no astral seal at all at there was 0 lag at all it was amazing. but a lot of dcs like to troll and throw many astral seals together. mind you 1 dc isnt bad but many dcs. and kv its all about what the game is trying ot process like with astral seal its processing all the damage done by everyone then healing on top of that . its to much for the system and it overloads. so if your a cleric and wonder why the damage stops on a dragon stop using astral seal.
btw to all you xbone users heralds in mod 6 is really really really fun and challenging. youll love it. you can get 7 dragons in a run like mod 5 but its harder and not just a easy run through. the reward drop rate is increased a ton i think youll love it like i am.

^ This pretty much sums it up.
