You're about 2 months late on this news...We've already seen this thread about a dozen times here. Do we really need to rehash it?

Well, those still trying to play the game relive this every day.

Oh did it stop being relevant? Most people don't read the forums until there are problems. Hence two months ago most people would have missed it. So the answer is yes.

So the game is being bought by a private enterprise. Anyone know Perfect Peony's history with game quality? Being in the Cayman Islands doesn't exactly give me confidence.

they also just annouced that pwi got a loan from a bank in china to buy back all their public stock, and they are merging with another company. http://www.eggtalk.com/2015/04/27/news-perfect-world-chairman-of-associate-company-and-the-merger-agreement

The current state of the game proves otherwise. You do know the Cayman Islands are used for avoiding taxes and cashing in on companies at the expense of the companies share holders right?

They are just taking the company private. Not sure you can read much else into that regarding the future of the game.

It could very well be that the owner of PWE is tired of having to answer to shareholders and wants to do things his way.

Could be good. Could be bad. But in the past, some companies have gone private for exactly this reason, so they can focus on actually be a great company, instead of chasing quarterly numbers.

    As do I.

Smells like an imminent liquidation to me, though.

Privatizing a public company is rare and usually happens when the company is traded bellow valuation or just before a game changing move by the managment (like surprise announcment of a product, etc) and moving it to tax haven is done to minimize taxes and hide financial reports. Also keep in mind that a chineese band approved a huge loan for that. All in all, i wouldnt get too worried.

Why would you liquidate a company with no assets?

I've posted over 30 times in the last week...I generally post in other forums though. Rarely anything worth responding to pops up in the General forum.

I already offered up that suggestion and was immediately flamed. So OBVIOUSLY it's so some guy who is too busy counting his riches can improve the game.

It's not a law suit. Helps to read the link before commenting.

It's an investigation into the legalities of the sale to see if the Board of PWE got best shareholder value as they are legally obliged to. Only if the investigation comes up with anything would there be a potential law suit.

It's a holding company. The gaming company remains PWE. The only thing changing is who owns it.

It's becoming a private company. That will entail a lot of changes other than who owns it. This can be a huge blessing or the nail in the coffin (assuming you all have hope) depending on the new owners view on the game and how it should be run.
