Zone lag issues

The game is so laggy it's basically unplayable.

I was in the Fiery Pit and could not even complete a single quest. The lag is so intense when I hit skills they fire 10 seconds later, and I don't even know where my character is positioned. Then eventually I die.

The entire chat is filled with hundreds of players saying the same thing!

I have found that moving to an instance that is less populated works wonders.

I have found that moving to an instance that's less populated means NO chance at defeating any of the Heralds.

Moving to a less populated instance in a dungeon is not an ideal solution. And lets be honest. Five people SHOULD not be to many.

the lag, disconnects, fps problems, rubberbanding are a problem i hear across the board. Every bit of feed back from "on high" has been something to the effect of it being on the players end. this doesn't really make sense and an honest answer would be much more respectful even if it has to be, "we are aware of it but can't fix it right now". it is making many things virtually unplayable and certainly not fun.

First of all I will ask for some patience and yes at times I feel I have run out of it. The problem has been in all the zones I have been in including Protectors Enclave and much worse in Well of Dragons. There are 2 basic problems that have similar symptoms, one is lag the other is graphics issues. Both of these problems can have more than one cause. I do feel that too many people are having this problem to blame lag on their internet connection or their network card. My opinion is that the lag problem is not something we can do much about but won't be permanent. I won't go into the lag thing further because I don't have the expertise to diagnose it. The graphics issue part of the problem you can do something about, lower your graphics card setting under options/graphics. I am running mine on low settings now, but until mod 6 I always ran it on highest settings with zero problems. Lowering graphics settings is not a cure all, so don't expect that and to my knowledge won't help lag one bit but there are some graphics problems with the new mod when there are lots of players such as the dragon runs and your graphics card can't process it all and the game can freeze.

I tried walking into the Fire Cult area... Never got to the first NPC.
Kept rubber banding backwards toward the door.

Switching instances worked in the Air area, but does me no good in Fire.

I normally don't have any lag problems, and it's only been bad here,
so yeah, it's Cryptic's problem and there's to fix. As is, it is off the
    scale unplayable
    many times of the day.

My graphics settings are near rock bottom and have always been that way.
As I said, the problems are only in Fire.
Did you really think anyone could steal the power of the god of thieves?

I had a different sort of lag today. I seemed to be moving and fighting with the group, my attacks that required targets were working, trying to revive people seemed to be working. Then I realized I wasn't doing any damage and my character started turning around in the opposite direction when I would attack. I could chat with the group and explained I was lagging and that I would leave as it was unplayable when I discovered I could not even drop from the group. A group member who had fallen revealed to me that I was near the starting campfire running in place and a short while later I myself could see this same thing also as my point of view warped from where I thought I was back to there. Never was there any latency meter indicated and I found it all odd, especially with my "target required" powers working and going on cooldown if in fact I had never really left from within a few feet of the first campfire.

I was not even able to leave the group as it would do nothing when I chose this and I had to have them vote me out.

Lag is not considered a problem and will never be fixed even if it is caused by bugs and makes game unplayable. Ref: Tiamat - it was laggy at beginning, and it was laggy last time I checked (just before mod6).
Sometimes players solve problem themselves - like in tiamat case - not using specific powers. Unfortunately all devs care now is mod 7 :(

Log a support ticket. I doubt they read the forums. Also, Fiery Pit has only started lagging in the last couple of days, hopefully server maintenance will sort it out.

I hope this isn't true. The game never lagged like this before Mod6. It's clearly caused by the software and needs to be addressed priority one.
