Anyone know if quests are working again tho? Or still Map Transfer Failed?
Do we need to republish in order to get them working again?
My featured one will remain broken in that case.. =/ le sigh.
Honestly can't even be arsed to login and check. =/ I'll wait till the 23rd.

Thanks for all the fish.
Traps appear to do a bit over 8% of total HP as damage and injure a random body part.
(Just how poison gas injures a body part is unclear, or how a spike trap can injure something above the legs).
IMO this attitude is one reason why we never got what we asked for from Foundry. People so happy for any little thing they ignored the big things.
I'm the reason we haven't gotten what we asked for now? Recognizing and appreciating what they do seems like a better way to encourage them to add more, rather than getting angry because they didn't add enough stuff fast enough. Would you give angry ungrateful people what they wanted? I wouldn't, unless they were also holding a gun to my head or had a knife to my neck. ((Personally, I'd prefer not to get arrested.))
In my opinion, the reason we didn't get what we asked for is because of all the people quitting so quickly. If everyone that has ever quit due to not enough stuff kept playing the game, the foundry community would simply keep growing and we'd have a ton of people by now. Enough that Cryptic would have to be extremely dumb to not put more focus into the foundry.
Note: I am not saying you are anyone else is angry or ungrateful.
Neverwinter players are stubborn things....until you strip them down to bone. (Cursed players, my flowers, MINE!) Oh how I plotted their demise.

It's not you, it's the attitude that we should be grateful that we have any sort of UGC creation tool no matter how limited. In my opinion those people eventually quit not because there wasn't stuff to do, but instead they faded away because module after module they weren't given the tools they wanted to make the quests they wanted. You see some of the well known beta author names pop up periodically, checking if new functionality was added.
Back in beta there were people warning about Foundry limitations and trying to get authors to do something about it, but they got shouted down by the group that were too happy to have anything at all and that we should be grateful for anything. The first wave of warners quit (even the person who made the Foundry making FAQ that was stickied before launch) making Foundry stuff long ago and took down their quests when they left. The ones that were doing the shouting down eventually realized we weren't getting anything and drifted away.
As for the giving the angry what they wanted, well Cryptic had a marketing point of "Foundry UGC", the proverbial gun to the head would have been the initial Foundry authors refusing to make content/deleting their content, thus removing the marketing point. It's too late now though, Cryptic has enough Foundries and they can make their marketing point without adding anything to the Foundry.
Back in beta there were people warning about Foundry limitations ...
The first wave of warners quit (even the person who made the Foundry making FAQ that was stickied before launch)
Gilrim the guy who wrote the FAQ and was an original alpha tester, and he gave a hell of a lot of feedback on the Foundry. I was also in the alpha. My first piece of feedback was the need for timers, this was many months before the beta even happened.
How much of our feedback was acted upon? None. Gilrim had made literally thousands of posts about foundry, and evangelized the game far and wide, but he finally blew a gasket at the end of the beta and bailed. It was pretty sad.
In fact, if you go back and find the the video Cryptic had about the foundry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pn7iU4EwTc the summer before the beta, you will see that it had a different, much nicer interface at one time. When I got into alpha a few months later, what I got was a diminished version of that demo. But the strange part was a few months later, they trashed the entire foundry interface, and left it in a state similar to what we have today. The grey colorless panels with edit boxes far too small for dialog text. So during alpha, foundry was intentionally crappified.
I have no idea why Cryptic does the things it does. Somebody there isn't all the way sane I think
It's expectable for them to have different objectives as a company than we do as players.
But sometimes it feels like they're the exact opposite.
Why wilingly make one of your main attractions of your game worse?

Yes, I just didn't want to name specific names. I was in the Foundry beta, so I remember what happened firsthand.

If you look carefully at the preview, I think you can see most of what we have now -- I think they tried to "dumb it down" or simplify it for the masses. Hence the tabs along the top instead of the left side, the single-focus main area. It just looks like they didn't lose anything other than making it harder to use in the name of simplification.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. And poor UI design apparently.

The old alpha design was actually the same as the current STO foundry. The Neverwinter foundry, while a little more boring looking, is otherwise a major improvement.
They did make it uglier I'll agree, but they also made it a lot easier to use.

I had to quit playing just after I won a Dragon Pack for the first Foundry Contest. It was for no other reason than their lack of vision pertaining to the Foundry. It's quite obvious they don't really have any DEVs on payroll that have the skills to improve the Foundry editor, nor any management that care to fund such a project.
That really sucks, but it is the simple truth. They have their business model that they will milk out as long as possible, I do not expect them to ever make serious effort towards the Foundry Editor... which means I probably won't ever return to the game. It really is too bad, I had high hopes (like many others) for a real DnD game with a full editor. Just remember that Perfect World is Chinese. They don't do business like we do. I doubt they ever will.
I had thought about checking out The Temple of Elemental Evil expansion, but honestly.... the creative outlet that the Foundry provides is about the only long term fun I've had with NWO.
*shrugs*
Some things you just can't change. It's a P2W ponzy scheme tossed into an Asian style Item Mall. That's life.
Someone linked me Sword Coast Adventures last time I was here, but I'm not holding my breath for whether that will suffice for what I enjoy pertaining to gaming.
