Repel range query

Hi there,

Has the differences in push range between a basic repel and a repel at full arcane mastery stacks and max control bonus ever been measured?

It's something I'm thinking of going on the test server to do, and get some screenshots for comparison. However I didn't want to re-invent the wheel if this has already been done!

I have a lot of fun when I use repel. It's a shame there's not a feat that makes it better.

I might be looking up for this since it would be essential for clearing Tiamat now. You can make a couple of CWs clearing mobs together.

Repel on repel does stack because enemies are prone. A good combo would be to have one CW with entangling force on tab and the other spamming repel on spell mastery.

4-5 CWs repelling mid area would be so much easy in Tiamat and with the Spell Twisting, it would be a pretty decent tactic for mob clearing.

Thing is, it was MOD5 viable, but not many were cooperative and to this day you still see DCs spamming sunburst while standing right next to the cleric (and then AOE breath strikes, of course).

Ok, here's my initial (gross) test against lvl 73 mobs in IWD.

    test2.png

The black oval is roughly how far the target was pushed back with a raw repel, with no arcane stacks or control bonus.

The image shows where the target was pushed back with 5 mastery stacks, Orb of Imposition + 5/5 glacial movement feat (ie no control pets to help)

Not a huge difference, which is disappointing. Or at least not as big a difference as I was hoping for. This might be because lvl 73 mobs have a higher control resist, but we may as well test against tough conditions and enjoy any extra bonuses.

The control bonus versus control resist look to be in favour of the resist.
Mob have base control resist and it's easier to stack control resist than control bonus (to be verified)

But it's mostly because % are so small and how it's calculated.
Take a stun that last 1s. Against 50% resist, it will only last 0.5s. With 50% bonus, it will last 1.5s. the gain/lost are the same but the effectiveness of each stat are always in favour of the resist. Reducing a control duration by half is more punishing (for the caster) than having its durations increase by 50% (for the target)
