I haven't actually played the game for a bit, got somewhat bored waiting around for Paladin, bounced to other games, but now Paladin is here and I have to decide if I'm re-installing the game or not. Likely should not have uninstalled it in the first place but it's a habit, what can I say?
1: Since the new module, how does Paladin solo compared to the TR? Perma-stealth was my best solo char, could easily beat dungeons solo that were not meant to be solo'd thanks to almost never taking a hit. How does Paladin compare?
2: Assuming Paladin actually can compare...heal or tank build for the soloing? Both seem to be really good but I have not had any chance to try out either of them.
3: Is it worth rolling a new character at all when you have a lot invested in another character? Some games are somewhat lenient but this game is absolutely terrible (or was a few months back when I played) as far as sharing anything between characters that had even a tiny bit of money cost. My TR has several million AD invested in it and a good deal of real money since it was my main/favorite for a long time and I did want to put some money into the game to keep the game alive. Just wondering if it's actually worth running a second character.
TL;DR: I prefer solo, dislike raiding, love crafting, kinda enjoy PvP (but only as a side thing, I avoid it mostly) and love even more trying to solo content that simply wasn't meant to be solo'd (which TR excelled at, at least for me). How does Paladin stack up?
I just did vault of the nine as a devotion justice, fresh 60 in garbage gear. I used the 4 pieces of gear from the elemental evil intro quest line. Some random R4's, no weapon or body enhancement. Didn't even break a sweat. I was surprised when I heard people were having problems with it.
1-60 was easy and I did it as light (pure healing) spec. I just recently changed to justice. Now I will see what 60-70 brings.
So far I'm enjoying OP, just need to get the bugs ironed out.
My Devotion OP just hit 61 and so far soloing has been a matter of
1) Stand in the middle of mobs
2) Hold down your at-will until they're all dead
3) Find more mobs
It's pretty silly.
Broken mechanics, broken class designs, lack of actual content, and over zealous, bronze-age moderation?
Thanks for the ideas, hoping to get more before I really invest time back into the game again, especially with finding out my bags are now BoE instead of BoA. Would love to buy the person who made that decision a drink... I want to be very sure on this class before I bind my bags to it.
I would give the class a try before you bind your bags. I feel that this class is not for everyone. Their DPS is adequate, but they are not a full DPS class and heavily on the support role. You have to be fine with that fact, protecting, healing people and dealing damage as needed.
I am level 69, close to 70 and get around as a devotion justice just fine, though sometimes it can get slow. I invested in Relentless Avenger for solo and it's made grinding things faster. You can pull a good amount and beat things to a pulp, in a timely manner. I have to say with Relentless Avenger and Radiant Strike, it reminds me of the WoW warrior.. zipping (charging) around the screen, even better when charging through the air xD. It can be fun.
Yea, I'll certainly be trying it before I risk my bags. Would you say devotion solos better than protection? Both seem to get a lot of love for soloing but since it costs money to actually try both I would prefer to have a good idea of what I'm doing before I go into it. This game loves to nickle and dime you to death :P Or maybe ten and twenty you...
Prepare for the Paladin to be nerfed. I'm leveling mine as fast as I can now. I solo and of all my classes, Paladin has been the easiest. I chose Protection.

A bit of an advice regarding character slots.
As they're not very expensive, just trade some AD for Zen. To me it's worth it. The healer and the tank paths play very different fom each other you might wanna play both. Each power works differently depending on the path you chose. It's the first time they do this with paragon paths, and hopefully not the last.
I hate dancing with Lady Luck. She always steps on my toes.

Same here, and I love it! PvP has been a lot of fun, unless facing another OP, then its an exercise in futility and more like a Paladin Mating Dance as we swing on one another doing little of anything.
jammer515, cryshal
Lol do not know what they are talking, Dev has said that paladin is stronger level 1 -60 already knew, from level 60-70 is where good start.
When do dungeons actually realize how good they are XD
