Should I Feed My Old Artifact Weapon to My New One?

Just picked up the Elemental Fire weapon and sword knot. I really cannot ever see any reason I would ever go back to using my Golden Dragon's Rage. Can't sell it for AD, can't salvage it for AD. Also being Green, the Elemental weapon does not have a slot for my Perfect Vorpal Enchantment (I miss my vorpal). So all things being said I do believe I will sacrifice the sword and knot to the new sword so I can at least get it blue.

    Yes... I did.

You will get 75% of the RP value you have put into the old artifact... as soon as you refine it.

Artifacts have been programmed to deliver more RP because of their value. Supposedly this was one of the requests that players made during the Preview.

Definitely get your new weapon to blue... whether you use your old weapon to do that or not is up to you. At blue, the slot for your vorpal opens up.

This is not in any way true. How much you get as a function of levels? maybe, but not as a function of raw RP, which is what you should really care about.

You get 40% of your RP, or 75% of your levels.

Yea, you only get 40% of the RP, not 75%. Save it for a double XP event.

Placing a max level 60 artifact weapon/offhand into the comparable level 70 item shows that it will grant 1,878,772 refining points. This is 40.4% of the 4, 645,200 refining points that were used to level it up.

Save for a 2x RP weekend... I know I am!

it may equal 80% of the levels /shrug

I fed my level 47 (purple) weapon to my new one and it was just a couple of stacks of peridots to get it to purple again (level 35)
my level 35 (purple) offhand and cloak each required 4-5 stacks to get to purple again :(
    (and now I'm broke)

Just out of curiosity I ran the numbers of what a 2xp RP weekend turn in would do. Currently I have both my elemental main and offhand weapons up to purple. If I were to refine the level 60s on a 2x weekend, it would take my new weapons up to level 59. I would need about 300k RP per weapon to bring them back to orange.

    This.

I didn't even equip the ones on my main yet, which is a simple math thing.

    - You lose the selected off-hand effect, and, if you're not yet up to (refining) Level 40 or 45 on it, also the stat boost.
    - You lose one enchantmentment slot if and when you've finished getting an item to orange - and the stat points from that.
    - Replacing only one would make you lose the set bonus.

So what I do is have them in my invetory, dump green and blue item loot into them, and wait for the double RP weekend, all the while stacking the stackable RP loot.

As I'm currently focusing on leveling my Pally in the somewhat reduced time I spend in this game, and will later / intermittently focus on pulling my alts through Spinward Rise, I have quite some patience there...

During mod5 ive invested all i had to make my main weapon to legendary, now is at the bank waiting for 2x RP event that dont arrive 1 week before a new mod. If that situation dont happen for me its the same as in that case i will not play this game anymore.
