Fix GF shield for the love of all that is Neverwinter

GF is probably the most difficult class to play. Now it feels utterly useless because the shield will just drop for no reason and now the sword will just stop stabbing as well. I find myself holding the mouse button down but my character is doing nothing but holding his sword over his head like a dolt.

GF is getting hit from too many angles ... not even sure frontal attacks are being blocked by shield anymore. How is the GF supposed to survive if the mobs move faster than players surround them in the blink of an eye and hit you for 200k damage from the side or behind and seemingly from the front and shield does nothing to prevent it?

Lungeing strike sends you past the enemy you targeted so that your back side is conviently open for mobs to one shot you, this should be a staple gap closer and skill for a GF but becuse it leaves you vulnerable more than it should its useless. LS should hit your target causing it to stop in its tracks and placing you right smack in front of it.

What is the deal with dragons? I thought you said dragon claw/bite attack would stop knocking a GF around? I"m still knocked all over the map. How am I supposed to keep threat if ever 3 seconds i'm pushed away and have to lumber back?

Why on earth can't you just make shield toggle instead of hold? That probably would solve problems.

Why can't we have a target lock toggle? Holding another key is uncomfortable on the hands and i'm pretty sure all these held keys and mouse buttons are not exactly prefect, probably what causes the GF shield to drop because too many input buttons are being sent at the same time continuously.

How about making mobs stop in front of a GF ... trying to flank in DnD prompts attacks of oppurtunity so iether make the mobs stop this stupid surrounding or make the GF start getting free attacks on mobs that continusouly try to repositoin. OH and by the way, mobs have literally jumped on my head if I was against a wall, so insetead of getting behind me they are now on top of me and apparently able to avoid my shield.

So you're experiencing lag and latency. It has nothing to do with the class. It's just latency and lag spikes. Welcome to neverwinter!

    +1

I am really bored of these bugs the gf has. I posted them in mod 5 but only a few got fixed.

Our shield has so many issues it's like not even having one. It sometimes doesn't lift, it sometimes drops for no reason and then cc can also sometimes go through it....

Lunging strike and bull charge don't even try to land but still go on cooldown.

Crescendo uses my ap and does nothing.

    Somtimes encounters don't even active.

Currently desperate survival only gives 3% deflect even if you have spent more points on it.

I know there is more but can't think of them

Please cryptic, fix these bugs :)

Also Shield Slam is no longer restoring any stamina, even if you have the dragon courage weapon or the equivalent class feature power on the new weapon. Tide of Iron works. With this bug and the fact that mobs flank you, the shield is useless.

The LS thing is so annoying, and I've also noticed my toon turn to hit one of those stupid dragon cultists with the shield up and waste my anvil, despite me facing forward and targeting something else!

+1 to OP. If they're going to rework a class, rework the flippin' class. Don't just throw damage bonuses at them and pretend it makes up for everything else you broke. I have 2 GF mains and feel they're useless reading about all these problems, not to mention the terribly unfruitful woes of making it to level 70.

Indomitable Strength also seems to be a bit glitchier than it used to be. I'll attempt to use it, it'll play the sound effects but do no damage or action. I've also had occassions where it does damage but doesent knock them up, away and leave them prone.

And I second the sheild issues. Sheild just stops working randomly despite my holding the button down, I don't know why, I thought maybe it was a lag issue, but seeing this post maybe its not.

I like the damage bonus, because now it only takes twice as much time to kill something than other classes xD but yea, GF's are still a pain to play. I'm working on my old main GF because of the changes and due to the need for GF's in parties, but its like torture levelling her and pvp... yeah without a reliable sheild might as well not pvp at all since I get pumelled without it.

Is it just me or are many of the dailies bugged? I've been trying to use Fighter's Recovery in PvP and it never fails to... Do jack ****. Considering that could be the ONLY thing GFs have over Paladin (Paladins restore health to tank, while currently GFs have their health chipped away and inevitably die), it's kinda lame that it doesn't do ANYTHING.

It a problem in client-server-communication. Sometimes the datagrams from the clients are just discarded by the server, thats why you rubberband and have server-not-respondings while you can still see something going on on your screen. KEY_DOWN and KEY_UP are Windows API-Messages that might get missed in the communication, especially if something has the focus and eats up KEY_DOWN; hence the comming down shield. Modificator keys like control, shift and alternate create constant flags in the keyboard-APIs status-messages while keys like tab or alphanumerics just render those above notification messages. As a rule of thumb: if something need a 'holding-down"-functionality, you'd better have it on modificator keys and mouse-buttons for reliability.

I usually have my shield on mouse-button 5, that has never failed me.

I as well had this problem, I don't really want to commenting anything else on it though.

I'm going to just help my friend get a stupid Blacksmith Outfit out of this one event, and then I don't really care what they do with this game.

I have my shield on a mouse button, and it still fails. I think it is definitely lag/latency related; it's much worse when I'm in a laggy zone.

Also, Lunging Strike makes me cry, it works so bad right now. I'm always overshooting my target and ending up being attacked by the mobs all around me instead of being in front of my target. The problem here does not seem to be lag/latency, but rather, the stop point computed by the server for me doesn't seem to account for the mob's motion towards me -- I come to a stop where the mob was when I started the action, not where I would have bumped into it a fraction of a second later.

Oh man, memory lane. There is a specific combination of actions that cause you to stop stabbing, and I wrote about it *way back* when I first started. I am trying to jog my memory about what it is. I simply got the muscle memory that I avoid it now, but I can't remember for the life of me what I posted (this was over a year ago).

    edit:

Here it is: "How to stop attacking with the left mouse held down."

Here are the steps to recreate what I consider to be a bug, and if it isn't a bug it is surely some annoying engineering to new players:
Step 1) Hold down left mouse on enemy target and start attacking away.
Step 2) While still holding left mouse, tap right mouse. Your right mouse at-will goes off with both buttons pressed and your left mouse at-will stops going. (intuitive enough... I think this is the ideal behavior).
Step 3) Release right mouse while never having released left mouse at all.

Now your sitting there holding left mouse at-will down, but you are doing nothing

GFs get baited into that really hard depending on habit and build. Solution: don't do that.

That's just one of the scenario, there are other ways a GF could stop attacking. I know because on my GF i almost never use the right mouse button.

Also, I posted a while back proposing that protector GF should have a 180-degree frontal shield. Of course I was ignored.

just a small improovement to help that poar tank doing his impossible mission 6..

They cant, they need their resources to setup the druid as the next unbalanced class, because the marketing-apes told the pinstripe-beancounters that a new class will certainly extinguish the current uproar in player-base -.-
