gameclient.exe stopped working

I started a new thread because the other threads are mixed up with other issues. They know about this issue, the have fixed it before, but the fix is broken. Using Arc, I can load the log on screen, and it fills in the password. I press log in and it patches the game. I will then press play. The Cryptic screen starts and the error box pops up. GameClient.exe stopped working. The application runs all the load sreens and then will put up the character select screen, unless it stops working. The last fix was a new file called Neverwinter.exe that did the same job. That file is dated 12/15/2014. It worked until the M6 update. Now I cannot get into the game. I hope they will use this information to repair the loader.
This does not concern graphics or load times so please do not talk about those issues here. If you are getting the error box please add your voice to help us get back into NW and play that new fancy hero

Yeah I'm also getting the same thing now. I was looking for a day of NW all-nighter, but sadly I have to go back to WoW and play it till this gets fix. I really do not want to play WoW right now lol.

Just random here, before typing your password in; have you gone to options and unticked on demand patching? Then sign in as it downloads another patch but I found personally after I downloaded that that I got in.

i have the same problem, it will load to the Neverwinter load screen and crash giving me the same "gameclient.exe stopped working" i hope they fix it soon , theres 3 ppl in my household that play and none can get on game

I have basically the same issue, only I never manage to get as far as the error message. I go through the patcher and click the play button, and then the computer goes straight to a black screen, where it will stay forever doing nothing else. If I ctrl-alt-del out and bring up the task manager, however, it shows the "not responding" notification beside the listing for GameClient.exe.

I found some information in the thread about graphics errors that helped.

For whatever reason, even though I never got any error messages about graphics, this allowed me to move beyond the black screen and loading screen to get to character select. My current theory is that perhaps my computer was having difficulty because my Windows 8.1 and my lastest Nvidia drivers are both compatible with the latest version of directx, while my actual graphics card is not (although that is only theory at this point). In any case, adding the command line seems to have bypassed the problem, for the moment.

I had this issue after the patch i updated windows and nvidia driver and loaded nvidias newest manager as it turns out that manager is what allowed me to get into the game it has a game optimizer option and it drops the screen resolution down to <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> but once i am in game i can change it back to the highest res and im good to go till i close the game only side effect is i cant tab out of game and back in for some reason it drops me to windowed mode and then i have to go into options and change back to full screen and that is a pain due to the fact the cursor placement in the game window is off so by several inches due to the fact the game thinks im still in full screen but i make it work. It seems to have something to do with screen resolution and when switching from the cryptic logo to char select screen thats where i always crashed. if you use this method just remember every time you close the game out and go to log back in you have to hit the optimize button in nvidia manager before launching or you will crash before char select. One thing i have not tried is to turn back down the resolution before i log out to see if the game will then load normally again next time.

this is alful, after mod 6 patch i get the error Dirct3d driver error ,the yesterday that went away and started getting Gameclient.exe
error and more crashs , the this morning i got excited, got on game the graphics where HORRIBLE, then game crashed and omg now back to the Direct3ddriver error what in the world .................
