Okay, I saw this was free to download and play. Now, is this a true free to play game, or like Facebook games that let you play a bit but you have to pay real money to do a lot of things?

A friend and I want to play this. I played a bit of the tutorial just now and don't see where you can invite friends to play with you. Is there no way to do that? I saw a thing where you could transport to their area. This is the only way to play together? Also, if you play with friends, do you get missions together or do you have to do them on your own?

I've heard someone talking about the chat. Texting sucks. Is this the only way you can chat with friends while playing or can you start up a party chat and chat that way? Seems like you should be able to, but I don't know.

Thanks! From what i played, the game seems awesome and very in depth.

You can play the ENTIRE game and all its expansions for free. You can purchase in game items, but that is your choice.

It's completely free to play. The developers make their money from people buying extras and stuff for their character.

It's certainly not pay to win, as you can do pretty everything without ever paying a penny... it's just that they'll take longer to get.

You can plug in a USB keyboard and chat, though it has to be plugged in before you start the game up. Pressing 'Enter' brings the chat window up automatically.

You can also use the Xbox companion app on a tablet as well, but it's a bit clunky.

You can play without ever spending a dollar.

There are things that you may want to pay for, but you don't "need" them to advance.

You can switch to different instances.

Not 100% sure on the grouping dynamic of quests (standard story driven/leveling quests can all be solo'd). Grouping aspect is geared towards dungeons, skirmishes, and heroic encounters

In game chat system, voice and text, is "buggy" (and hopefully being addressed as the communication aspect of the game is really needed in the current end game).

XBox One party app chat works very well.

    While in game:

    Menu > Social > Friends

From here you will be able to view your friends list and invite friends to your group (or join a friend's group I believe). Also, you need to be in the same instance (you can see if any of your group is in a different instance, which will show under their GT in the upper left corner of the screen). You can "change instance (server#)" in the menu.

As mentined, for chat maybe best to stick with Xbox party chat pending bug fixes on in game chat.

Also, save up gold for your first mount. 5 Gold will buy you a basic mount once Sgt Knox declares you are ready for your first mount.
