MMO Etiquette

I downloaded this game because I am a 9 year veteran of WoW (World of Warcraft). I have really enjoyed playing with the people I have been matched with in the dungeons. However, there are a few "rules", if you don't want to wipe that is, as the end game raid is going to be nothing compared to the 5 man dungeons you have been in.

1. PLEASE don't pick up loot until the fight is over. We all have enough things to do and buttons to push without a big box in our way dealing with loot during a fight.
2. PLAY YOUR ROLL. What I mean is if you are a tank (Guardian Fighter), please go in first and get the bosses agro.
3. DPS, ranged or melee, Your job is to hit on the boss UNLESS there are adds out. In that case you would deal with the adds (CASTERS FIRST), then go back to hitting on the boss. RINSE and REPEAT.
4. HEALERS, heal. duh,,lol
5.NEED vs Greed: GREED ALL GREEN items, NEED on BLUE, and ONLY on the gear you will ACTUALLY USE, otherwise, pass. IF everyone passes oh well, that's how the game has been played for years.
In a raid, The raid leader will deal out loot according to his/her own rule. Generally speaking it will be a group of guildies and they will have there own set of raid loot rule. I.E. best gear goes to those whom need it the worst, for gear score reasons. Anyway I hope I am not coming off as <beep>, I'm really not, I just know that allot of Xbox players have never really played an MMORPG. Just trying to make the game a bit more fun for you. I am a "GUILD FOUNDER" for "Knights of Thé Light, if you need any help leveling or any questions. Zaydi@ShelbyGT6869. AND have fun and happy adventuring.

Thank you for posting this. Hopefully a lot of the player base sees this.

No, you are spot on my friend. I wish I had a full group to run with dungeons everyday. I hate PUGs who need roll everything and didn't need it. Fighters need to be getting everything on them, and not letting the wizard or cleric get pummeled. Rangers have been a bit bust for me in dungeons. They either hide in the shadows and use their bow, hitting nothing, and let the cleric die. Or, they go swords to the wall and agro whole rooms like idiots. I won't be keeping any Rangers long anymore when I see that start up.

Nice to hear some sensible co-op comments. The whole point of MMO's like this is to work as a team. Odd how many people dont seem to understand that.

    6. Do not afk for long periods of time. If you queued you for a dungeon you should set aside enough time to do it. If the group calls for a break then that's different. Don't be the lazy person letting everyone else do all the clearing.

I think that we're doomed on this front. PC MMOs are full of idiots, and console ones are always worse as the community interaction is diluted (bugger all people use the chat window). I end up off tanking in my lifesteal warlock because the Cleric is being touched inappropriately by EVERYTHING and the tank smacking the boss' backside with the handle of their sword screaming "DEMACIA!!!" over and over.

In fact just watch the LoLFail animation videos I was referencing, it pretty much describes PUGs in this game

My rogue ends up tanking alot too when I have my cleric buddy to help me stay alive. Not enough good tanks out there.

Had to quote this. Pretty much most clerics I run into are amazing but almost 80% of the tanks I have grouped with aren't that good or really dont understand pulling and threat mechanics. So today I decided why leave the tanking for someone else, I might as well roll one.

This is all well and good, but no amount of MMO etiquette threads will end the frustration of joining PUGs. Probably the best bit of advice for those looking for better groups or a better co-op experience overall is to create or join a guild. Find a group of people you enjoy playing with and just avoid the PUGs altogether.

Best bet is to post in the guilds section.

Great way to put it, although I pass on all greens @ 60 because of a lack of inventory space/their actual value when identified. My only issue with #3 is certain fights where killing the boss as fast as humanly possible, looting, and then just wiping will save you ~20 minutes in the dungeon. Add spawns on some fights are ridiculous and if your whole group wipes after the boss is killed and looted certain adds will despawn... most of the time .

Great tips! I also played WOW for years and am having fun so far playing another healer in Neverwinter. I just don't think my computer can handle the new WOW.

Also, if you run ahead of your healz - u may die lol. I am slow right now because I just downloaded and game and am trying to find my way around. I have had the game for 2 days and am a level 20.

I wish more players would read this. I am so tired of seeing people Need of a green crafting resource when everyone else hit greed. That and the guy that hit's need on everything that it allows him to need on.

I play a Guardian fighter and it drives me nuts when the rogue is rushing ahead of me and aggroing a group, then complaining that he is getting killed. I'm a tank and I have a shield for a reason, get behind it!
