I know this topic sounds kind of trolly... I apologize... I'm really not trying to incite a riot... flamers - flame on if you must...
With that said.... here is my question.
Is this game still pay to win?
Backstory: My wife and I played pretty heavily (hundreds of hours each easily) about a year ago and quit because we started spending too much money and felt obligated to do so to keep up. We ran plenty o' dungeons and tried to get our own stuff without spending money but it simply wasn't effective. There was also a very off-putting theme of glitching dungeons/bosses to more efficiently farm. While it worked and often got us gear, it just didn't sit right with me or keep me wanting to play more. Even when we encouraged our groups to try it normally, it either resulted in us getting trolled and outvoted then glitch the boss anyway, or attempting very unsuccessfully to down an incredibly difficult boss.
I don't want some "smash face on keyboard and win" easy game, but I was severely disappointed with the end game balance at the time. I enjoy a challenge, but so much of the content seemed **** near impossible to complete without better gear (which just so happened to drop in said content... chicken or the egg?)
Thanks for reading my wall o' text. We both enjoyed leveling in this game and would love to come back and play if the endgame has changed for the better.
if u wanna be BiS, be prepared to open ur wallet, or spend an eternity mindlessly grinding....
however, you can easily be competitive, and decently geared, with not too much grinding.....there is still much fun to be had in game...all you need is a decent guild - friend me on this handle if you like, and u can join mine. I also despise speed running, and glitching dungeons
If neverwinter were pay2win, why didn't we see 5 TR, 5 DC, 5 GF, 5 GWF parties in CN, MC, VT back in Module 0/1/2?
All they had to do was pay money and win, right?
Why couldn't any random group of high gearscore players complete CN?
because they did not spend enough money??
One reason dungeons became easier is because soulforged was changed to give an extra life.
Most pve builds were glass cannons and with the old soulforged, survival was difficult.
class2win, feats2win, stats2win, gear2win, powers2win, strategy/tactics2win
This is how I would describe neverwinter.
I don't want some "smash face on keyboard and win" easy game.
Sorry, that's the current state of the game, and there are people lobbying on the preview section to have module 6 as easy as module 4 and 5...
To answer your question, yes you can buy more power for your characters in the cash shop. Don't call that "pay to win" because it's inaccurate, but you can definitely get an incredibly more powerful character using your credit card. So I'd rather call it "pay for power".
Please read the Rules of Conduct. "Pay to Win" discussions are a disallowed topic on these boards due to the incendiary nature of discussions concerning this topic.

They've changed. There are now more macro-transactions.
