Request - Catalog Redesign.

[I looked for a thread for this to go in, couldn't find one, started my own.]

A Better Catalog!!

Problem: If I give someone the shortcode to my beta quest that's on the 'under revision' tab, but they use the 'quick search' on the 'best' tab; they find nothing.

If they use the shortcode in the 'quick search' on the wrong tab; they find nothing.
If they use the shortcode in the 'quick search' on the right tab; they find nothing.

So basically, the quick search is not so quick. To use the shortcode you have to goto the proper tab, tHEN click advanced search, tHEN enter the shortcode. What's the point of a unique identifier if even quick search cant find it?

Make the "quick search" a broader search.

Often times after advertising my foundry in PE i get PM's saying "i cant find your quest" .. I shouldnt have to say "Advanced search, short code, under the "<this>" tab" just to get people to find it.

Also naming the it 'best' tab seems a bit presumptuous .. when I have to say "its under the 'best' tab" I sound like a weenie.

The whole catalog needs a redesign.

'Featured' / 'Eligible' / 'Published' / 'Beta'

- 'Eligible' is all quests that meet the 15 minute requirement for daily foundry + ARE 'UNPLAYED', and thus worth EXTRA REWARDS(develop this! please! it will mean that people play nEW foundry q's!)

- where featured are the quest copy versions that cryptic has featured in its dungeon master's corner, (also eligible while unplayed)
- where published is all quests past the beta stage,
- and beta remains the same. quests awaiting reviews/revision/enough 'completions' to advance.

Be able to filter all of the above by 'subscribed' or not.
Arrange it like windows explorer, everyone is comfortable with that UI. The landing screen tabs dont work for foundry info.

    Wow. No traction on this? I thought it was a great idea and a way for people to get their quests played. =X Anyone agree?

    Hey, I like this idea, I just haven't been on the forums much this past week. The search function definitely needs a redesign. I'd add the request that tags be set by authors instead of the players. Enough players will eventually tag everything, and make the tags useless otherwise.

    Well, eventually the authors will just tag everything; at least, the sploit authors will. They'll abuse everything.

    The community absolutely should tag the quests. Just, those tags shouldn't appear in a search unless they pass a certain threshold. I've set that in my spreadsheet as past the average counts in all the tags. It seems to work very well.

    The larger issue is, certain quests will still rise to the top and stay there forever. We need a little bit of churn so that new quests have a chance to rise to the top as well.

    We'd be able to click the 'eligible' tab, and if we've already played the top quests on that tab, they wouldnt show. This would keep the list 'fresh' as long as you kept playing the top quests. =D
    (Unless we uncheck "hide played")
