Proposal to increase the support given by the GF to the party.

Hi :) Sorry for my english if something wrong.

In the Neverwinter Online guardian fighter can protect himself using a shield but why not taken into account that ally standing behind the shield-bearer is also protected from the frontal attack? :)

I've noticed a hint of this in one of the new feats of GWF:
"Living Wall - Allies within 30 'of you take 1/2/3/4/5% less damage. IF THEY STAND DIRECTLY BEHIND YOU THIS BONUS IS DOUBLED."

Could you add something alike to the GF's shield block? Concretely when GF stand between foe and ally. :)

In Neverwinter Online laid great potential for the use of the strategy in the alignment of characters on the battlefield. But it is not fully used by players in PvP and PvE. I hope that changes in the restoration of health and lifesteal may make little protected classes with ranged attacks more concerned about thous protection then now and make them stand behind well protected classes. But to be sure that this potential will be used to 100% I propose to introduce the possibility for GF to defend allies that stand behind him using his shield block.

1)The need in thinking through the placement of troops will make the game more interesting and will make the Neverwinter Online even better.
2) It will get to GF more abilities to defend the group.
3) It will make GF to think more about their movements to protect the group.
4) It will make GF spend more time using the shield to give more protection to his group.
5) It will increase interest in the game for GF.
6) It will make Gf to be more claimed as a defender.

Ps: I will be glad to hear the answer of developers. I hope that you too think that thise proposal will make Neverwinter Online better :)

We already asked for this, around a year ago. But i also believe, it would be a useless feat. since the majority of classes can just entirely nullify damage by dodging/teleporting, etc.

I think that, when a GF has his or her shield up, that they should create an inverted cone of protection behind them, granting damage resistance to allies within said cone-shaped area.

I wouldn't dismiss the idea entirely. The main reason DPS classes had no fear of incoming damage was how potent lifesteal was. It was easy to heal incoming damage just by dishing out damage.

Lifesteal has been made less useful and, in the new content, enemies hit really, really hard. As in, kamikaze DPS classes who draw aggro and try to shrug off hits from enemies are going to get squished like bugs. Out-healing the damage is not a possibility (anyone who claims otherwise needs to try and take out Syndryth in the LvL 70 ToS before objecting to this). Mitigating incoming damage through positioning could be a viable way to go.

I fully approve of this message. paid for by no one.

They already have something similar, Knight's Valor. An encounter that you will most likely see a lot once mod 6 comes out.

It looks like you are describing pally's shift ability, except that it works like an 360 degree AoE around Pally.
You say 4v5 is impossible? Cool story bro.

Guys. There was a hundreds of threads like that. Suggestions to devs, how to improve GF's usefullness in party, survability in pvp, etc.

GF is the slowest class. Almost not invulnerable to CC. Block meter lasts for 10 second more or less, while TR stealth is perma. During block he takes 20% of incoming dmg. So even if block would be perma, he will die in few seconds. His def will be reduced to zero cuae of new ZEN needed enchants. Piercing dmg will fvck all defense/deflect of GF. Villians, and almost all others skills daily or encounters cast ages. WOW - they reduced aggro time by 2. Who cares. Before tank will come into mobs, usually they are chilled/dazed or dead.

20% DMG increasing? WOW. First of all its not working - they just changed tooltip. But even if. Its just a 20 % of 0. Now regen will work out of combat. WHAT? Most of the time on Tiamat I cant loose aggro at all. How da fuq should I heal myself? Ok chance for LS - Once per 5-6 seconds im doing some lol dmg. No insta dmg like rays of CW or SW. My chance of LS will be null.

Ok, GF have a huge HP pool. Compare all stats of new sets. CW with 100k hp = no problemo. Compare now it with dmg and conrtol ability.

Maybe I'm pissed. All decent Gf's gave up, and even their threads are dead. Noone defends our class.
Tank? Just a puppy, one hit toon casue his AC means nothing.

God da mn, make this class viable to play. Trust me. None of Gf will pay you a penny for this game, if you ignore them.

At the risk of rehashing the same old GF issues that the devs never got round to fixing since beta..

KV as an encounter power is terrible, there is no skill or dynamic for its use press once for on press once for off. and it wastes an encounter slot that a GF could use on something else, it turns a GF into essentially a buff bot who merely needs to be in the party - why not just create a companion that provides the same thing. (same goes for ITF)

On top of that the power punishes the GF for slotting it being that he takes the damage from other players failures to move out the way of the red stuff. Just turn it into a passive power and allow GFs to actually press some buttons while they play.

The problem is the emphasis on GF powers is misdirected, they should work more along the lines of the new commanders strike - an encounter a GF uses should primarily buff and/or be a dps power for the GF - And then also provide benefits to the party. But even commanders strike is implemented badly because it is a low dps attack, why should the GF suffer his own personal dps to benefit the party? it should simply do both!!

Very good idea! But paladin already took this mechanics. Maybe then allies behind, they have immune to cotrol, and that's enough... The role of guardian will be clearly.

That was my idea given a month ago. Ignored. Like all GF's questions.

KV must be turned on/off. While foked up CC immunity of GF, its turned off all the time cause of loosing CC immunity, even if block is up.
Then ITF, speed up? Cmon, animation is so long, that after this I have to do it twice to be with my party, which is far away and killing mobs.
Iron warior? WOW. Try to use it in pvp. You have to be almost invisible to do it, cause animation takes ages, and is interrupted all the time. AC gaining bonus? Who cares, dps classes all have 4% casuse of necklace.
SOS - nice, blocks AP gain.
Menace - many times I have to use it 3-6 times, before it triggers, or i'm dead.
BTW simple Guard meter was nerfed. I'm holdin' my guard about 6-7 seconds shorter than on live now. Nice, keep going !

There are a few things we need... the 20% damage increase is a nice start (I am hitting like a freight train on preview), but in order to do what we are supposed to be doing, that doesn't go far enough. We need:

    1) Some kind of speed buff. Either a persistent feature of the class, or give us the Bravery class feature that GWFs have. With the way other classes dodge/teleport/roll as they move forward (constantly to the dismay of GFs), the fight is either over or halfway over by the time we get there - even if we use ITF. How the hell are we supposed to get and HOLD aggro if we aren't being allowed to lead the charge into the fight?
    2) Threat generation. We need more of it. When I tab mark something, it should look right at me no matter what else is being done to it. Our passive threat also needs to be boosted. A GF should run into the room and basically have an aura that screams to the mobs "OVER HERE ATTACK THE ONE IN SHINY ARMOUR". Tab mark is only effective half the time... enforced threat about the same... Knight's Challenge? Waste of time... if I can't get a dragon's attention with those 3, then something is VERY wrong. Additionally, more of our powers should apply a mark - basically, anything that hits multiple targets. Frontline Surge and Lunging Strike should mark every enemy hit by those powers.

Speed buff could be fixed by allowing ITF to be cast on the move

I have no issues with threat generation on live let alone with the increased damage buff on preview

Problem with ITF is it boosts the party's run speed... meaning they are still going to get ahead of the GF. The class needs a passive persistent speed increase to offset our lack of dodge/sprint/teleport/etc... Maybe just give us the Bravery feat GWFs have.
