a good looking idea.... What if we were able to craft enchants (lesser vorpal, lesser bile, lesser lifedrinker,etc..) just like the lesser dragon hoard and lesser fey blessing enchantments ... ?
The crafting materials could be valuable items from one of the campaigns, epic dungeons or something else that it needs farming...
..after acquiring the lesser enchants ,you may refine them to upgrade them to greater,perfect..etc... or equip them or maybe sell them for profit....
shards can be replaced from crafting materials..don't bother..
that whole thing will make enchants more affordable for every player equally...
iam hearing opinions ....:p
Buying four hards from the AH (for sometimes less than 5k total) and/or gathering them from boss drops/chests is fine with me. Coal Wards would then be probably required (or something equally priced), too, and they're probably a relevant source of Cryptic's income, too. Basically, apart from not having to get those four shards I see no real point in this change. Apart from the devs hurting themselves where it hurts, in their purses.
I'd like to see a purely RP gathering based profession instead, but with RP as some sort of temporary RP mechanic that could not be used in any way to affect the economy. It could act as RP until the item/enchant were unslotted, then be reimbursed. Perhaps it would also have a system in place to allow for temporary refining materials that allow for temporary rank ups as well.
Bottom line is whatever changes do happen, they need to allow for reasonable progression outside of simply paying for RP that cannot be abused by methods such as botting.
