Updated Mod 5 GF guide?

I'm wanting to start a GF (which I've never really played before), but all of their guides seem to be sorely out of date. I'm wondering if an updated one exists or if anyone could give me some general stats direction. I'm mainly a PVE'r.

Race wise I was thinking Dragonborne or Human. For the starting roll I'm not sure if I'm supposed to go 18 con/13/13 with the racial stats in con/str or if I should go 17con/14str/13dex with stats in con/str. Or something entirely different?

My last question involves stat priority and path. I'm not sure as I level what stats goals I should be focusing on, and what path (Conq maybe?) I should be heading down. Also, augment pet wise, which is the best for GF?

Thanks for any help!

I think it's shameful you've not had a response yet, my friend. I agree with you, gf info is hazy and chaotic. I can't offer you much in the way of facts as I only know what I do from playing, from some nice replies on this forum and hours of reading outdated "facts". I started only recently myself and I'm sodding lost, too, despite playing rpgs for years. But let's get some feedback going. Nothing brings out responses like somebody chatting abosolute ****, so I'll tank the trolls while you work out the truth in the following barrage I'm likely to get lol

Race, so I've heard, is little bother. Favs seem to be dragonborne for that +2, human for the feats, halfling for dex, dwarf for it's innate tanky qualities so on, but honestly it's up to you. Play what you love :) If you can't stand how your hero looks, why are you playing? Honestly?

Stats.... HAMSTER I don't even know. Con is king, in nearly every build I see. It's then a toss up between Str for power/heal and stamina, or Dex for that arp and defl. Depends on playstyle. Atm I've got 20 str, 22 con and 15 dex no bonuses. Lvl 45, piling what little def, pwr and defl I can. With this I hit about as hard as my mates HR trapper but I tank pretty **** well, mostly handling the high end damagers/bosses. With good dodging and careful blocks I've been the last one left alive in several situations and with either a DC to keep me up so I can whittle the enemy to HAMSTER, or (even better) a solid dps to carve em up quicker, I've helped snatch victory outta the jaws of defeat :) It's what I enjoy. I've been told from here to stack more dex for that arp.

Path? Tactician mostly for buffs to your team. Protector if you wanna turtle. Conq if you're after a little more damage and some aggression. That's, in very broad terms, what I've read. Sword master or Iron Vanguard? What skills do you like? Check out the character builder. Im an IV myself, i like frontline surge, but i'm mostly pve.

In the end we're a class lacking some love from the devs, but if you love being the rock around which your crew revolves during the tidal shift of battle then we're it :) I doubt what i said was much help, honestly, but I was depressed seeing no replies for so long I had to say something. Take those words for what they're worth. If nothing else, a diversion from a HAMSTER day, maybe lol Happy tanking, bro!

there are similar threads before you should check them

i am not pve expert, but better try iron vanguard for better movement possibilites, if you want active play with noticeable damage go conqueror. for enchantment go for radiant, couse health and power have no diminishing return. if you can have (later) crit 1500, arm pen 2500. recovery 2000 its perfectly fine for any content
