I just refined some Barkshield Shards to make a lesser using an account bound Coal Ward. The lesser barkshield is Bound to Character and stuck on my toon.
Has anyone else seen this? Do I just bug report it and hope to get it unbound? Or hope it unbinds when upgraded further?
OK I've been able to reproduce this reliably on the test server as follows:
1. Start with a stack of 4 Barkshield Shards from MotH (i.e. a character bound stack)
2. Split the stack into a pile of 3 (unbound) and a single bound one remaining (*)
3. Double click the single bound one to refine using the other 3 and a coal ward
The resulting Lesser enchant will be character bound.
I think this bug has crept in with the change to how dragging stacks and refining can be done from the inventory in Mod 4.
I have still to test whether it will unbind when refined further (either as source or target) but may not have time to (being character bound duplicating the lesser across test toons is impossible). Meantime I will GM help it in game.
Mod feel free to move to bug reports if you wish.
(*) it actually occurred because I mailed 3 from one toon to another to refine and they dont stack correctly in the inventory (mixed bound and unbound), but the steps above are a simpler version to reproduce it.
Encountered the same issue yesterday. Was about to make a thread but luckily found this one, so will just add here. The stack of shards was from MotH runs (character bound) but upgraded using an account bound Coalescent ward. Result was a lesser barkshield which is Character bound. Hope this is a bug and gets fixed.
If it is Working as Intended, it will be very unfortunate. Needed it for my GWF but now it is bound to my DC

I have not made one yet but I have encountered teh shards being bound, used to be able to split the stacks and then recombine to make the unbound ... however as of today I cannot do this, every single barkshield shard is bound and it will NOT unbind worse when I tried to put them into a unbound stack I had it then bound that stack entirely. Really sucked.
Can someone please look into this since double RP is coming and my plan was to upgrade some enchants to greater but isn't going to do me any good if I can't get the shards where the need to go and the enchants end up binding on whoever upgrades them.
Same problem here. As of yesterday I am no longer able to split a stack bound to character Shard of Barkshield to create unbound shards.
So I used these now Bound to Character shards to make a Lesser Barkshield Enchant yesterday to sell in AH as I didn't want it for my PvE CW.
The result is a Bound to Character Lesser Barkshield Enchantment .
Ive wasted a Coalescent Ward making an enchantment that will not be used by this character
Well Bless the players in the NW_Legit_Community channel for responding to a question and problem.
I took my newly crafted and now Bound to Character Lesser Barkshield Enchant and actually slotted it in my equipped armor.
Then I removed it and put back to Inventory and it is now Unbound !!!
Word has it that this occurs when a Coal Ward from the Invoking 7-day reward box is used to upgrade the Shards to the Lesser Barkshield Enchant.
I hope this helps the rest of you. I am selling it asap before something else changes.
Howeve,r this doesn't explain or fix the Bound to Character Shards

Tried this out based on a suggestion from a Legit community player as well. Unfortunately, in my case, it has not worked. Do appreciate the suggestions. Almost wondering if, rather than the bug itself, if the workaround was fixed. If this is the case, it was not a bug and Barkshield binding to Character is working as intended.
Would be great if a Developer commented on this or a Moderator brought this issue to their notice. I would not be as frustrated if it had been Bound to Account rather than Bound to Character (not trying to suggest to do this, if it is indeed a bug). I created the enchant for use in PvP on my GWF (for testing), but now it is stuck on my rarely played DC
So it seems that this is a bit of a stale thread, but I noticed also on the MotH page (http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Master_of_the_Hunt) that it says:
[Shard of Barkshield Enchantment] (Binds on pickup - a bug slated to be corrected soon - should be unbound)
So .... this bug has been around a while and nothing has been done to correct it?
Or is the information on the page wrong and it is SUPPOSED to be bound?
I haven't seen any mod or PWE answers.
edit: I ask because the one I got today is still bound.
Permissions always go more restrictive, never less restrictive; Mixing bound and unbound ingredients in any crafting will create a result that is bound - if the most restrictive ingredient was Character bound then the result will become character bound.
It's a one-way street from unbound toward character bound, never the other way around. This has always been true in every Cryptic game since all the way back, so nothing has changed. We simply need to be careful to pay attention to the binding of all ingerdients when crafting/upgrading/transmuting anything and everything.
Also note that Bind on Equip items must be "equipped" before they can be changed (merged into a new rank/transmuted) so will bind them before the change is made, thereby making that ingredient bound, causing the result to be bound. This is why transmuting an unbound item will cause it to become bound, for example (the items used for transmutating must be "equipped" in order to change them).
This "equipping" happens in the background during the changing process so you don't actually see it happening.

Maybe I put this on the wrong thread (and I am really sorry if I did, with this talking about getting them from MotH, it seemed appropriate), but I was talking specifically about when you first pick up the shard in the Master Of the Hunt, as the page referenced states that it is a bug and should not be bound when you pick it up.

Edit: if someone has a bound coalescent ward, can they make an enchant with it and see if the resulting enchant is also bound?
I expect it's a bug but ...
The Coal Ward was Account bound. Probably one of the shards was Character bound. But I've never had this happen before.

Upgraded/refined with an account bound Coal ward and the resulting Lesser is bound to character again!
No response yet from support from the original issue - fully understand they are busy but this is concerning now...

Ahah! Okay, I may have misread the original.
