Is this a freak accident or is scourge warlock becoming a counter-fotm class? Like "screw your op tr I am playing a lock!". I have been seeing more sw's in sub60 pvp than tr's, where a week or so ago trs were everywhere.
Gotta love this class and I am glad more people are laying it. I think sw in pvp is the best kept secret in neverwinter.
I think it's more like there are a lot of pve locks and everyone is bored with tiamat so why not.
Exactly this ^
Got bored of eSoT/eLoL/tiamat runs so thought why not try warlock in PvP despite everyone told me the class sucks in PvP. I just pity those guys that get more than 1 SW in the parties.
I still have fun in PvP, mod 5 made it less enjoyable, but Ive been having tonnes of fun in GG lately since ive been done with Domination's for a few months now.
Fiery Bolt and Killing Flames and Harrowstorm, what a disgusting combo in GG ^^

not too mention those who weer late to adopt SOulbinder, with news about the nerf to survivability in Mod 6 too, I think we will see alot more SOulbinders prepping and alot of Hellbringers trying to finish off DOminations before Mod 6 arrives lol
Apparently the lifesteal change will greatly aid the sw in pvp as people are calling them immortal in the preview patch. I can't say for sure but this might just be what we have been asking for in terms of survivability.

those people., dont knowwhat they are talking about and have most likely not even hit lvl 61 yet.
If you are on test server, and you arenot lvl 61, then you have NO idea how the new Lifesteal works. End of story.
an SW in current Mod6 cannot survive without using BoVA and DT for maximum proc chances. since the heal proc is 100%, taking a heal for 6k each time aint so bad if its happening more often than lets say Fiery Bolt + KF

well at 2k Lifesteal, u only have like 4.5% chance to proc a heal, that heal IS 100% of that Damage done however, but you can understand from this info that you might very well die if you can relyign on FB or KF.
Basically it means this:
PVE - If you dont have Healer and GF+Knights Valor, The Many Ticks of BoVA, DreadTheft, will be pretty necessary to keep up.
PVE - With Healer or at least GF with KV, youc an better get away with the DT, Fiery Bolt, KF Combo that we all love so much.
PvP is gonna be anyones guess, because I still dont see us getting away with DT and BoVA vs all that CC....
Basically, right now on Live, you have 100% for 13-17% of Damage as Life
on Mod 6 it becomes 4-5% Chance for 100% of Damage as Life.
The Tradeoff doesnt sound terrible until you are using FB/KV because it will be unreliable healing, and then health gained would be massive, but more often than not wasted. when you need it the most, u will not get it..
Hence BoVA and DT being the life savor thanks to all the ticks of damage vs just a few
The new inverted lifesteal model doesn't feel much different then live when you are lvl 60 with 14% but as soon as you hit 61 and new stat curve takes over you loose 10% or so LS and boy does it feel different.
Just for the hell of it I respected to soulbinder (hellbringer on live) to see how that worked and my survivability did go a up quite a bit (partly due to one of the new class features being bugged and giving me permanently full sparks) so if things don't change to much before launch SB might gain a bit more traction in pve since its added survivability will have more value that it has currently.
Level 61-70 curve and lifesteal/regen changes seem to be hitting every class really hard. In THAT context, how does SW fare?
Depends, SW Hellbringer Fury, we like to use Fiery Bolt and killing Flames for the biggest nastiest crits the game has to offer. This will be unlikely to keep you alive the way you are able to do so on Live currently.
SO for NOW we doing okay with DT and BoVA, and Warlocks Bargain for any tough mobs, you still can survive alot of hell like this.
But no one knows since hte stats on the Gear Sets are incorrect, and alot of stuff is bugged.
Problem i see right now is that the Passives and the new Paragon Feats added for SW Fury looks pretty useless, but will allow me to make a better custom build that should hopefully make me pretty happy once i hit 70.
i do plan on working on 70 asap, and will put less effort on testing the Paladin.
The stat curve change is brutal. As for survivability, we will suffer some for this. There is a ton of DR on top of LS that gets lost once you pass to 61. If these changes are to make healers and tanks more necessary, boy did they succeed. Overall it'll be the Fury and to a esser extent, the Damnation paths that get hurt the most from this. Temp should be fine if built and geared properly.
Jinx is able to maintain a peak LS around 20% or so even after the new stat curve kicks in so I don't see much survivability from LS being lost rather than the massive hit to DR. I lost like 20% DR from the new curve which is painful man...
Thanks for the answers. The expand my question-in pvp- given the other classes are going to be hit by the same things, how will post lvl 60 sw fare?
well, I predict that Tank HellBringer Fury will be hard to achieve in new PvP. Depending on what % to lifesteal I can get to is what will make or break my SW in PvP.
In PvE im not being hit hard but I took a reduction in DPS to get more guaranteed Health (DT and BoVA), but we all know that these abilities are a death sentence in PvP since mod5 tr's can stun you all day long lol
The usual PVP encounters will have very low chance to heal you when you need it, so unless my lvl 70 SW will have 80k HP and a 25% chance to life steal, i just dont see SW doing well in the sense of survivability.
We will most likely be forced into Pure Full DPS glass cannon, or be forced over to soulbinder

hmmm, I am already running a fury soulbinder. I didn't think fury hellbringer was that viable in pvp.
I am thinking with the ls/regen decrease in terms of other classes, the sw will be more vulnerable but even more of a dps/burst/killing machine.
TRs will be a problem as they always are but less so simply because they will not just take heavy damage then regen from stealth, or inflict heavy damage and ls heal, they will have to totally withdraw from combat to heal up. Because they are a lowish hp class, generally squishy.
I just think the sw as heavy artillery will shine in mod6 because it can outdamage almost any other class and is not quite as squishy as classes which deal comparable damage.

correct, so far the way i see it is it will be difficult to make a tanky Fury specced Hellbringer with enough Lifesteal to do what we do today.
The only chance willbe full DPS build but stacking alot of HP at the very least.
Still too many unknowns, such as, how will all that extra Armor Pen effect ME if my DR is low. Devs made hint towards DR being able to go into Negatives through armor pen alone, so 50% armor pen will do nasty damage vs someone with little to no DR
After doing preview for a few days, current lifesteal % is hurting the healock way too much. It more-or-less puts us in an off-heal/buff/debuff role that I didn't sign up for. Not saying they aren't good buffs/debuffs because they are great and different from DCs, but we're DoT healers who trade off doing big dmg for many small dmg to heal. I'm ok with it being a chance, but LS should be a higher % for us to be good DoT healers. If not that, then at least include in our capstone feat, or change a feat or class feature to say that our LS % is increased a max of like +10% to +15%. But then all other classes will whine probably. I don't know, I guess I'm just happy being a healer.
