Queue by role?

Does this mean that the classes that can be specced for multiple roles will be able to cue for content based on the role they actually fill? No more healer slots filled by dps clerics, no more damage slots filled by healing locks or tanking GWFs? No more tank slots filled by conquerors who just want to hit things? How will the cue sort paladins?
If you are making roles more important, are you also taking steps to let us actually cue for the roles we want to fill?

    I don't think the queueing system is that specific: it builds a PUG based on the general role of the class: Leader, Striker, etc. For example it will/should grab either a Wizard or a Warlock (it probably considers them the same) and so on. It doesn't have the capability to understand what kind of a load out that Wizard is, how it's spec'd or what paragon path the player is on.

    I think he meant this more as a suggestion rather than a question.....

    I too think this is a great idea as well as adding additional tab(s) similar to the fashion/normal gear tab that allows u to switch between pvp /pve gear / different roles..... and have at-wills, encounters, dailys, class feats and potions loadouts on those tabs.

    Unfortunately I don't see many of these ideas coming to fruition any time soon, understandably as the devs only have so much time to work on mods with the Pen and Paper AD&D content ultimately setting the due dates for said content releases.

    They said they are adding a new tank and healer class this mod and they are adding only one class. So, if that class can fill either of those roles, then one would hope they would develop such a system before that class went live otherwise you would end up with a bunch of groups being put together by the queue system having 2 healers and no tank, or 2 tanks and no healer, both of which sound like awful situations to be in with the changes to lifesteal that are coming.

    We already have a class that can dps or heal. It doesn't sort that. I see no reason to think this will change.

    Sure, and it kind of works now, because those DPS clerics are killing things so fast anyway and lifesteal is really OP right now. It's only going to be an issue because of the changes that are coming to lifesteal. A CW isn't going to be able to face-tank packs and let the lifesteal keep them alive because lifesteal isn't going to be a reliable heal anymore. They make their intent to make the various roles important in group content clear. Healers and tanks are going to actually be important for once, but unless they sort out this issue where one class can fill multiple roles, you're going to have the queue system being completely useless. They really need to figure something out for that. Or else what, a class that can fill multiple roles is expected to respec any time they get put into a role that they aren't spec'd for? Obviously that's a ridiculous expectation. They need to fix the queue system if they're going to make the roles actually matter.

    Umm so far there is no real difference with the lifesteal healing. It's still extremely strong.

    The devs are expressing their intent to make roles matter. If they want roles to matter then roles need to be taken into consideration when you queue. I don't think you're disagreeing with me, just saying that you can fudge the system to make it kind of work anyway. I would personally rather see the system fixed so that when I queue up with the intent to heal, I don't get thrown into a tanking role with people expecting to me to use tanking abilities I don't have.

    Sadly, I have only been here a few months and I already share your lack of enthusiasm and faith, but it's not yet enough to stop me from making the suggestion and trying to offer some compelling arguments for why it should be done.
