Nightmare Talisman transmutation

I would like to transmute my current talisman (CW offhand) into Nightmare Talisman.
Nightmare Talisman`s description states it`s Free Appearance Change what suggest talismans can be trasmuted.
However, whenever I hover into my current talisman, it option to transmute is disabled.

Will it change when I`ll purchase Nightmare Talisman?
And if not, is it possible at all to transmute talismans?

I ask because I would like to get a new icon of my talisman, but don`t want to waste 500 bars in case it is not possible.

    I have never identified the talisman on my costume, so could not say there is a point to transmuting it.

    Off hands for DC's, CW's, SW's, and GWF's are not visible. Do not waste the bars.
    The right to command is earned through duty, the privilege of rank is service.

    I know it is not visible at costume, but I would like to change it`s icon (visible on character inspect).

    That seems a little extreme, just for a character page icon. I honestly expect its not possible. But you should be able to try it safely on the preview shard without risking anything.
