I experience seemingly random, but serious FPS drops (from ~60 back to 1-2, or less) on the tiamat fight. I think it's not my computer but probably some poorly optimized class graphics, like Knight's Valor + reflect before.
Usually my computer can handle huge group fights, graphics maxxed, without breaking a sweat, but sporadically throughout the tiamat fight something kicks in and boom, fps drops close to zero. Sometimes it persists quite long, sometimes less. I suspect some raidwide spells. (Is KV fixed?)
Turning down graphic slider to minimum on this fight doesn't really solve the problem, it's better, but still quite unplayable, when that drop happens. I tried /unlit 1 also, but it won't help.
It could be due to a large amount of DC's using burning guidance - the battle with Tiamat allows a huge amount of players and you only really need 1 BG spammer to have a noticeable effect.

It's not burning guidance. I believe it's something to do with Tiamat's Red Head.
Although not to game-crashing levels, the Red Dragon Herald similarly induces massive lag.
Yes, it's something with dragon heads. I experience the same issues with fps, even in the middle of the crowd attacking devils I have minimum 30 fps, but sometimes it drops to 1.
M6 almost drains your soul given how boring it is. (c) joocycuzzzzzz
I had some success turning MSAA to zero. It is not on the tab with all the other graphic settings. I had turned it on cause big good computer why not? And I forgot about, my instances of bad lag went to nothing with it off in addition to turning down sliders. Sliders weren't enough to stop slide show on blue, but no MSAA + low sliders was enough. Your results may vary.

This has been happening to me. Things going ok, then all of a sudden i can't move. I thought it was just me, but no.

Nope, not just you. Some of the time, the whole fight is 60fps as normal.. other times it's dire, 0.5fps or worse, and impossible to move without plunging off a cliff. Usually, it clears up when the heads go down. Something is very broken indeed.

That particular DC bug was ninja fixed in the patch that brought Tiamat in. I have deliberately gone out of my way to test it, hugging heralds with tons of melee around me, and the difference is day and night now. I think it's mostly just the encounter itself which is the problem. That said, knight's valour is probably not helping- so if you get it, just stand in some red until the GF gets a clue and turns it off

Thanks for the tip! I'm not sure yet, if it was which helped the situation, but I did have a fight after w/o major problems. I'v also noticed that anisotropic filtering was still on somehow before that. All in all, this seems like a working quick fix, but there's definitely something odd going on with this encounter. The contrast between the very smooth parts and the unplayable parts in this fight seems too huge (and quite random) to be a simple "pc not good enough" problem. Something is causing a performance hit bigger than it should.
As mentioned before, it might have something to do with the dragon's heads, I can faintly recall stuff breaking after the heads emerge for a second time.
Imo this fps drop is definitely something wrong with game graphics. Couple weeks ago made my SLI config with 2 x nVidia GB gtx780. Not to forget 32gb ram + OC i7-4790k/liqudcooled + Asus Raidr SSD. Do you even think that I have to reduce graphic quality?! I think NO. But I tried - single card = same issues of fps drop, sli and sigle mod - stopped postprocessing+ssao+ shadows=1+lightning=2+all settings one level down+shadows=low and etc. guess what - suffered AGAIN fps drop to 0.xxxxx.
It only happens at Tiamat fight, no matter which head i fight, so Cryptic please fix your game!!!
edit: just tried with all $#!^ off and all at low worked so far, but still some tremors ....
+100 to this, especially to the only solution is that you fall of a cliff and then standby on the campfire for a couple of minutes until the lag is out. GPU usage goes to 1-3% and then fps drops to 0.5-1.. totally unbearable in tiamat fight..
So we need the fix, ASAP..
PS tried to check everything and everything is ok, so far with updates of sotware, win and etc.. LOL

can't imagine the look on your face for having a beast machine go all the way from MAX settings to LOW.. lol

I have stone face, but you don't want to hear and see what coming out of my mouth ... my monitor needs windshield wipers lol
Its not the first game tt makes such $#!^$
BTW 3 times with low/medium and all off especially postprocessing and ssao + shadows and light, worked fine.

hahahaha.. ohh cool, good to know that it is working fine with those settings off.. the fps drops happens randomly and i have my settings high and those settings on and will try that if i have time.. thanks for the info..
AMD R9 at absolute minimum levels and I can manage the fight. I forget to turn one thing off or to min and I'm toast.
But then again its not just the Tiamat encounter. During the heralds, textures go missing as does the dragon itself:) Funnily enough, this only happens in WoD. In every other area I can crank the card up to and play away.
Tiamat and heralds are broken, same with malabog castle and protectors enclave when its busy.

I also have this on tiamat. I don't have any problems with the fps even in bigger crowds but at the dragon heads i can get verry bad fps. It almost makes it impossible to move at all at times. Not about game's settings or my computer because no setting changes have made it any better. It must be something about the dragon heads.
I have this problem, too, and it's debilitating. It's definitely NOT poor general performance due to lots of people in the raid. I expect performance to be much lower in a raid setting due to so much activity. Lowering the graphic settings really doesn't help. The average fps increases, but when the bug occurs, fps drops to 1 or less fps, and when the bug ends, it returns average fps.
I have had this happen at the heads, and occasionally defending the clerics just before a breath attack. Obviously it's hard to troubleshoot the situation when you're trying to dodge at 1 fps. I'll pay more attention and update if I have new info. This is really a killer bug for those affected.
