Why does soulforge give immunity when you get back up?
No matter what class I'm playing they all seem to have immunity from damage for a good 1-3 seconds after getting back up.

I think it didn't use to have immunity, but they added that more recently.
It makes sense to give a bit of immunity. Think about it - you get killed you resurrect and the very next moment you get killed again while still playing the resurrection animation. With no immunity there's no point to being resurrected.
I hate dancing with Lady Luck. She always steps on my toes.

Well I hate that enchantment, at least it should drain their stamina, bus most the time they die then get out like nothing happened...
If it is a recent thing, It's a good change. I tihnk there should have been a small delay on res and an animation played. Anyway, you could actually be controlled while ressed and that was kind of bs unable to do anything if that happens since the enemy can just chain CC you from there.

If you are a mobile class... that 1 second usually gives you enough time to get away from whatever made your SF fire. Even in PvE... if you are slower... (like a GF)... you can usually back off and heal... then rejoin the fight.
But in PvP... I have found that as a GF... soulforged just gives you enough time to look up and see the final blow fall and finish you.
What I experienced with soulforged and lathander's set:
Sometimes it doesn't activate and you die instantly. Soulforged goes on cooldown too.
Sometimes you get controlled right after activation.
Sometimes it registers as death and lathander heal/buff doesn't activate, yet you get revived by soulforged. In case this happens you're usually rooted for 1 second.
Sometimes you get a slight immunity to damage after soulforged activates.

That is why GFs with common sense use barkshield or elven battle (or maybe briartwine)
Soulforged is just not for us, only maybe for some raid, where you know you may get oneshoted.
BTW all of you say things like this enchant would be made for PVP, well IMO it is a PVE enchant, which can be annoying in PVP, but it was not made for PVP.

In pvp the only character that I've found this works against is a Guardian fighter. My guardian fighter has a tough time when a mobile class soulforges up at full stamina and then runs away. Or if it was a tough fight they kill me because they have their stamina back and run around again.
And i'm usually very annoyed when I save my anvil of doom encounter for when they get back up and its immune.
All my other classes though are just as mobile and have no problem getting the kill.
A perfect soulforge gets quite a bit of health back so I think the perfects are worth it. Anything less I wouldn't bring to pvp except maybe on a rogue.

I had an level3 Barkshield and it just did not help enough at upper levels

As a Gf I have tried and used for some time the following enchantemets in pvp:
Lesser Soulforged: Good, gives you a second chance.Against snobish players it works, cause they never stand next to you when you revive. It works against ranged CWs/Trs.It works in mid when there are many players around. When revived there is a pretty good possibility the enemy to tries to make the final blow to auto lock and hit a teamate.
Normal Frostburn:Sucks big time.No difference in enemy coldawns or at least i did noit noticed it.Sold (thank god!)
Normal Thunderhead:Hm.....when it procs ,every 60 secs it is ok.A 1 sec stun.problem is it procs way too low.One in a minute?Sold.
Normal Barkshield:I could not understand the difference.it only worked against Trs Cos at wills. There i would see often red 0 0 0 0 0 poping out of my toon.So i quess it absorbed some attacks. But against big attacks ,since we block,it is useless.Sold.
Greater Elven:the one i use now.It does not work as tooltip.Ithink,i say i think, that it does not always works.I have slipped through entagling force instantly ,and after 4 secs i was controlled liked i wore no enchant. So i think it has a cool off by some kind or a chance to activate.
But as a GF it helps me a lot with all the enormous cc (specially CWs) that is going around in domination.kept

It's unreliable to say the least.
It should be fixed cause when your Lathander set does not work and you get rooted on top of it it's just, as someone said, a chance to see the final blow coming at you.

WTB Class Reroll please
It's not Soulforged that gives immunity, but the system itself.
It's the devs that implemented that, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
One of the many Control Wizards that misses Shard Of The Endless Avalanche. RIP Shard (Beta-Mod3)

LOL.. Exactly.. Just enough time for whoever made you soulforge to think how they will finish the job

Well it shouldn't be instant get back up. It should actually wait until you click it like a scroll.
Then getting rid of the immunity would be fine.

I noticed it happens here and there that

every enchant should be usable at lesser rank
no need to change anything
