Royal Guard Set proc problem...

As an archer, i normally use the grand warden set for the critical strikes for maximum damage. I just recently bought an RG set from the AH to test how the 30% CDR would work with my build. Well, i found out that the RG isn't proccing as often as it should for me. It procs very randomly at very long intervals. I dont know if this is normal, or am i doing something wrong?

    RG will proc off your DoT attacks, such of rain of arrows/blades, thorn ward attacks, etc.

    Thanks for the advice. I slotted a lesser plaguefire enhancement and it worked like a charm. Im starting to like my RG set more than my grand warden set.
