Transmutation issue (Needs to be fixed)

Alright so I have discovered that when you transmutate items, they become bound(Character). Now this is not a very big deal, however the problem is. Items that are Bound(Account) become Bound(Character) when transmutated. This should not be happening, because it can ruin a set of items pretty quick. E.G: Slayer of Xvim set is account bound, but when you transmute the cloak into something that looks better, it is now character bound. And the Xvim set becomes pretty useless at 60. So basically it becomes an expensive Mulhorand cloak.

I had this issue and lost my Xvim cloak, tried to get it back by sending a ticket in but with no luck of ever getting it back. In which case I(you) must buy a new one. This should be fixed before others have to end up spending another 600kAD for something that should not of happened in the first place.

I don't believe this is a bug, so much as an intentional feature. When you transmute item 'a' to take on the appearance of item 'b', the game also gives item 'a' the binding rules of item 'b'. So an item that can't be bound - like a common/white piece of equipment - when transmuted into a BoE item will then become BoE.

Likewise if it is transmuted into a bound item, it will become a bound item.

I believe the purpose of this is to prevent bound appearance change items from being distributed through other means, but I'm just speculating.

Now as for whether or not I like this feature; no, no I do not.

Yes you are right to a certain degree. However if the item is already bound(account) it should stay Bound(account). Not to change into a character bound item. The only reason this is because its a preset, its in the coding to make transmutated items bound to character so that people are not selling transmutated items in the AH. That is one of the sole reasons why. At this time these account bound items did not exist at the time, so they had never put into consideration that this should be altered in the future. Over time they probably just forgot about it, and making a change to it for account bound. Its not exactly a bug, but at the same time is. Only the apperance changes not the stats nor the BO(whatever).

My hypothesis: When you transmute item A to look like item B - the stats are transferred from A to B then B is equipped. On a technical note it seems easier to me to update the stats of item B than to actually change the appearance of item A.

Therefore the binding of item B takes effect since item A is 'discarded'. Since most items are BtC on equip (rather than BtA) - that's what happens.

Again - just my own hypothesis on the process.

Either way this still shouldnt happen. Its merely changing the cosmetics of the item. That core properties and function do not change, and should still be transferrable through characters on the account if they are account bound.

I think this is an oversight that was made from last years summer festival when they made all transmutation bound if the item used is bound, they hadnt actually gotten around to making the bind to account feature yet to as common as it is now.
