[Recommendation] Foundry (Job Board) as Daily Mission Replacement

Hi,

Foundry is one of the best feature of this game, yet it is so under-utilized. I would like to suggest an idea to replace the zone daily missions with foundries.

In Sharandar and Dread Ring, there are job boards with foundry mission. I would like them to be counted as a daily mission in that map. It adds content to the game, brings unlimited possibilities, and gets you past of the daily grind because you can do different missions everyday!

Please consider.

would be awesome, but the problem is that devs would have to check the foundries, so they arent bugged or made to be completed asap etc.

for ppl who are sick of repeating same quests over and over it would be great if you could just do foundry instead

maybe they could make a list of foundries that are suited(not bugged, decent story etc) and then every day there are randomly chosen X(based on summary length of quests) foundry quests that reward certain number campaign resources split among all the foundries based on how long the quest is

that would make leveling alts more fun, and allow you to deal with old content faster

No - they already do this for Rhix's daily foundries. Only limitation is average time must be 15 minutes.

They could easily allow choosing/completing a foundry off a zone board as completing a zone daily.

I would play Foundry quests a lot more if this were a thing; as it is, I just don't have time for Foundry quests after blasting through dailies. Fantastic idea.

Exactly, this shouldn't take too much effort in terms of validation.

You have no idea the "effort" it's taken to get them to do miniscule changes to the Foundry in the near 2 years the game has been active. Eldarth would likely be glad to link the bug list, recommendation list, etc. to prove the point. The most recent AMA had the product manager mention using the Foundry as an official alternate leveling option, and improving the rewards. No to be too pessimistic, but "We'll see..." In the meantime, when you get a chance, try either of mine (the newer version requires some minor digging), Eldarth's or anyone else's quest(s). Each author has a unique style as to how they approach story-telling, which is a breath of fresh air most of the time.

    That is a fantastic idea/suggestion, tonyswu. :)

The game has become quite stagnant; your idea, if implemented, would be a breath of fresh air to the game and give the foundry (and its authors) more play time.

I gather completing these missions in replace of the zone missions could still provide the same rewards?

You'd have to have someone at Cryptic dedicated to vetting and perhaps polishing Foundries to make them appropriate (i.e. no farm foundries!) but in theory it's a great idea. It would really help bring some life to the Foundry if your quest could occasionally be "special-featured" as a Sharandar or Dread Ring daily (with appropriate XP and rewards at the end).

One issue could be average play time, as quests differ (mine averages around 45 minutes, with the fastest I've ever done it at about 30). To make it worthwhile, I would suggest that devs scale the ending XP and rewards based on overall difficulty and play time.

here's something to remember about how éasy'it is for devs to check them.
after the reset of foundry missions, a few weeks ago.
day 1- 175 missions, no farms.
day 2- 375- lots of farms,
    day 4-1100+

and you want the Devs to trawl through this lot.

It's not that I want them to; it's just that I think they would have to vet them somehow before putting any official stamp of approval on them as a daily mission. I definitely wouldn't put a dev on it: more like a QA/content person who could gradually filter some wheat from all that chaff and pass on candidate quests to the designer team who could look more closely.

They already have a vetting system in place, with the featured foundries. Featured foundries are dev reviewed and offer perks above normal foundries, like not having an XP cap. The problem is, the entire system is fairly flawed. Its difficult and slow to get a foundry featured. And once featured, the foundry can not be changed in any way. This becomes a real issue with each new module introducing new bugs that glitch existing previously fine foundries into unplayable messes.

Put simply, the current vetting system already has issues. I don't see them fixing this anytime soon as the problems are fairly deep. I also don't see them inventing a wholly new system. So, that alone pretty much makes this entire idea dead on arrival.

And if they don't need to vet foundries for Rhix's dailies, why should they if they made zone-foundry dailies?

The problem is what is a fair time limit for such a daily. Lets use Sharandar as an example. I can complete those dailies in under 5 minutes each. That's getting into a dangerous time frame for the foundry, and if you make the time limit larger, people just won't play t as it's not efficient.

you get x rewards for running all the daily quests, they can make it so you get 1h total of foundries(foundries show how long they should take) and get same x rewards for running those foundries, but the foundries could be 1x1hour awarding all rewards or 1x40m and 1x20m with first one giving 2/3 of total reward, or 4x15min giving 1/4 of total rewards each

as for checking - they could either make 2 tier checking - foundry creators team(made from players who do a lot of foundry stuff) could check the foundry quests, and forward the good ones(story, no bugs etc.) to devs

or simply they could make a group of ppl from foundry creators that do it without devs

I really like this idea. They will never actually do it because PWE doesn't give a HAMSTER about the foundry, and would rather force the devs to spend all of their time just making the same **** over and over again with a new veneer, so they can get people to buy something that they already have, because now it *looks* different. An original feature that could make this game a landmark in the industry? KILL IT WITH FIRE.

Not exactly an original feature. Many other games have had it. Some even claim that Neverwinter does it best. http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/8818/The-5-Best-User-Generated-Content-Systems-in-MMOs.html
