Is there a way for a Master of Flame wizard to get combat advantage damage with smolder?

Does Prone and/or Daze grant combat advantage?

As long as you're not being targeted, you should have combat advantage. So sure.

That's not how it works. You're granted combat advantage if an ally is near the opposite side of the enemy you're both attacking or through certain abilities and/or feats.

If you put Steal Time in your spell mastery slot, it'll grant Combat Advantage for the duration(not suggested, since the run speed boost sometimes pisses off allies). You can also get combat advantage from the Renegade Paragon feat called Nightmare Wizardry. If you crit an enemy, you have a 20% chance to gain combat advantage for the next 12 seconds.

My Hot Tempered Wizard frequently gets Nightmare Wizardry. Quickly the damage from At-Wills can reach 6 digits as long as the target has an eye for that chubby dwarf. ;)

And daze or prone does not grant CA?

How does CA work with smolder? Can it get ca bonus damage? And if yes does the smolder need to meet the requirements each tick or does it depend on the initial damage which causes smolder?

You get CA, not your powers. As far as I know, if the ring around the mob is blue, all your damage gets a bonus from CA. I don't have smolder, but if any power does not get a bonus when you have CA, it's news to me. You can tell by the sword icon with the damage numbers.

Combat advantage is basically a condition, that when met, grants you bonus damage - the main source of this is by flanking or surrounding an enemy, though there are feats/class features/powers/companions that can grant is in other ways...

But what determines if there is a CA damage bonus for Smolder?

Is it dependant on the initial damage? For example:

I use Scorching Burst and I'm in the back with an ally at the front of the enemy. I get CA. Then I run to the front. Does only the initial burst get the CA damage bonus or also every smolder from that attack?

I use Scorching Burst without CA bonus. But then I run into the back and get CA. Will the following Smolder get a CA damage bonus?
