The point of lightcrafting?

Maybe I am blind, but what is the point of lightcrafting?

The only thing it seems good for is for better fishing and fishing is only there to level lightcrafting and for the contest. Or am I missing a other use for fish which would justify lightcrafting?

    You can exchange the fish for lights of simril.

    There's the Lightwine that gives a nice buff and the fishing pols and lures that help with fishing. We're gonna do a whole bunch of wishing cause it's the most reliable way to gather Lights of Simril. There's also the Faintly Glowing Citrine, which gives a pathetic amount of PR, and the Iceworks which are cool imo.
