GWF and Mark

So, call me a stodgy GF, but I really think GWFs shouldn't have mark abilities.
  1. GWFs generate enough threat via damage
  2. Mark is the GF's main tool to properly tank/control
  3. Mark pulls aggro for GFs in lieu of their generally shoddy damage

This kinda stems from one of my old points that crossing GF and GWF paragons was an ill-advised, lacklustre, and shortsighted choice of action. This only really served to make GF semi-irrelevant as GWF could now do everything a GF can (to a degree) + more damage. What was needed was a GF paragon that utilised the field control as a main aspect (say a General paragon) and one that utilised GWFs' raw damage output (say, a Barbarian/Berserk paragon).

      NOPE. BY FAR
    2. Mark is the GF's main tool to properly tank/control
NOPE. It's just a tool. GWF was always able to mark through IBS. For GWF mark is mainly to get CA and boost damage. GF have specific tools to turn mark into a aggro/ tanking tool.
    3. Mark pulls aggro for GFs in lieu of their generally shoddy damage

    4. Mark also boosts your DPS with combat advantage, 8% DRI exc...SO if you want mark to be gone from GWF, i want a similar ability to keep our DPS buff, while removing the combat advantage and DRI buff from GF mark. It's just to generate threat, after all. And according Powerful Challenge changes too.

This kinda stems from one of my old points that crossing GF and GWF paragons was an ill-advised, lacklustre, and shortsighted choice of action. Nope. GWFs can't be tank/ threat generators not even close to GFs. This said, as long as you replace Iron vanguard with another PvP path with gap closing abilities and mainly a comparable replacement for FLS, TR, trample exc...in PvP, we're all happy. But GWF is already enough crippled with module 4 nerfs. IV path is currently what makes them viable in PvP. Would we have Sword Master alone, we would be training dummies in PvP.

I would say since GWF is not OP, is not taking PvE slots away from GF and is not threatening the GF tank role anymore, what about you think about your own class and stop asking for what in the end would be nerfs, to ours? Thanks. We don't need a GF to tell us what GWFs need. Too many non-GWF classes wanted to say what GWF was supposed to be. And it ended up in a mess.

buff our base damage by 40% and take mark away, else what u wrote is complete bs

GWFs generate enough threat via damage
GWF's cant hold threat even with marks, unless they are glass cannon dps

Mark is the GF's main tool to properly tank/control
and its the only reason GWF is somewhat useful in party and can pull even the HAMSTER dps we have left thanks to crying morons telling us how they want our class to function

Mark pulls aggro for GFs in lieu of their generally shoddy damage
and GWF damage is good ? have you played sent in pve ?

yes. mark change, for gwf,it was a lazy way found of the devto increase the damage / utility of gwf after overestimates gwfs during the nerfs in m4 (one hour of gameplay? no, never). but to use this, if you dont have illusions about ibs in live dd, is a mess of bad tradeoffs if you is not a sentinel (and sentinel got a biiiiiiiiiig nerf for my tests).

and i want the old sos back

^This is mostly all wrong, well, the list part specifically.

You know how much time I spend in a dungeon physically chasing mobs down to get them off of folks as a Sent GWF? Like the whole run. Things are generally not interested in my mark or damage separately, so I basically have to run ahead as much as possible to hopefully spend some brief quality time with the mobs before someone else hits them. This only gives a brief period of holding agro. After that it's -run over there, knock that mob over, run back over here and pull these dudes back in to me- rinse and repeat. Our mark and threat gain (even when feated) is laughable.

    Nub? Hah.

It's no fault of GWF. GWF is a liminal class. It lies somewhere between TR and GF in terms of melee role - it doesn't have enough damage to compensate for its relative lack of defense and vice versa (kinda how HR is unless you really munchkin it or play mod4 combat path).

I still hold that doubling over the GF and GWF paragons was a lazy attempt, but we all know that will never change now. The end result is that, like it or not, GWF still deals more damage than GF and has better mobility. I'm not comparing to any other classes. We all know that GWF needs to be played well to overthrow CWs for DPS and it's a struggle to solo combat HRs. Trust me, we hear it in the forums daily.

My point is that GWF dealing more damage than GF by a long shot and marking targets defeats the whole purpose of having a GF in the party (aside from filling a DD PUG) unless you're willing to run as a KV buffbot, which is less than satisfying.

    Why?

Mark is NW's way to allow GFs to compensate for low damage, enabling them to even pull targets off of high-dps classes, like CWs. A good non-buffbot GF will have 75-100% of the current mob under some form of control, whether proned or marked, allowing the rest of the party the freedom to move relatively unthreatened.

I always have BIG fun when a GWF (who thinks he is Superman) rushes forward to start attacking... most of the time I feel to which mob he rushes into... i wait with Mark till he starts attacking and then Mark the mob so he is doing is Swings of awesomesses in thin Air...
I see this things always happening in LoL, ELoL and shores... and when he is rushes into a pack of mobs I simply put KV off and watch

You appear to have some unresolved issues, and can't play nicely with the other kids :)

My GWFs don't care at all about the threat portion of mark, but would not like to lose the debuff that comes with it. So they can take it away, so long as they replace it with something else, and I would not complain.

A good GWF cant care less if you put KV or not, usually as a GF atm you are nothing more than a hindrance in the loot race...

    Ouch.

To be fair to the fellow fighters I do prefer having a GF tanking epic G on the Shore. Sometimes I just dont feel like dodging his big hits with a shift that was not made for dodging

As a gwf who survives most pve content of this game without the need for a gf buff, I still enjoy having a gf in the party to hold more of the aggro. I don't care one bit if KV is used. I actually would rather it wasn't used most of the time, since I play a style where I'm getting hit a lot, so it's going to take its toll on a gf using KV. But gf is still amazing to have in a party, and nothing that I have as a gwf competes with the tank effectiveness of a gf, unless the gf has no idea what he is doing. (like the guy who was spinning garakas in a circle the other day...)

We wish. To quote another gwf, "I never die, as I never take aggro".
Every gwf has experienced this situation when a trash mob slightly disturbs a CW and you run to him and you try to get rid of the trash mob (because you're desperate for something to do in the DP, a way to be somehow useful) and however hard you try to hit, the trash mobs ignores you and keeps attacking the CW.

that is why i rely on my skills and soulforged not on random trash GF's

usually running with them i end up tanking as 23k hp dps, and still do a better job, so go back to your sad existence and pretend somebody needs you

if you dont want GWF's running ahead then move your rear, and say thanks to the "genius" who thought stacks on gwf is a great idea
